Really. Darkness 2... Fine I'll buy it, I wipe my ass with $12.
(then I clean it and save it.)
Yo vader. (hint)
That Star Fox video makes me want that Metroid Prime crossover...assuming it's handled just as humorously, and I don't see how it could be done any different.
To go ubergeek for a moment, that game is actually not bad. I used my Naked Bros. Band game microphone to play it, which may lower my street cred a little.
Humor. Retro. Nintendo. Humor. Retro.
Nah.
A little?
Look at the tracklist though.
^
It's better than the Def Jam Rapstar tracklist.
Think about it. It's an idea that cannot be done well. Even if they deliberately suck out all the humour of it that they can it will surely end up unintentionally funny. It can only fail, and therefore cannot.
So that Shin Megami Tensei 4 being made for 3DS is megaton level news I here. Ok.
Nintendo Powers 10 games you have to own
I'll take that advice thanks.
Of course it will. They will tweak and rework it to work with consoles.
UE4 currently can only run on a multi-GPU setup or a Kepler on high/highest settings at the moment. Gears of War doesn't push UE3 to its highest potential, for example, but was able to run UE3. The target render for UE3 was 60 FPS at 1080p which is what its able to do on PC. On PS3 and 360 most of the UE3 games were 720p at 30 FPS. This is the kind of thing you are going to see on home consoles. They put out some unachievable whiz bang demo and figures, then pare it down to work on whatever hardware is out. From what we've heard from a Next gen developer yesterday, Durango is a powerful machine but PS4's hardware has not been quantified or nailed down yet and may or may not be powerful compared to Wii U.
With regards to Wii U if the feature set is there on the Wii U's hardware, then it'll be able to run UE4 on a toned down setting - sort of like how Crytek has got some DX11 effects working on the home consoles that only support DX9.
Regardless of all this, how impressive is UE4? I asked several times a week back and no one even replied.
I have not made a judgement on it yet as tech demos rarely translate into anything meaningful. I'm waiting to see what it looks like in a game closer to release.
CV 3DS
From what I've been reading, until GDC Durango wasn't even compatible with it and it was only at GDC that MS decided to go 'all in' with UE4.
Look at it this way: Epic: 3DS Cannot Handle Unreal Engine, yet you still had RE Revelations looking broadly similar to some UE3 games because the 3DS had the feature set to do similar effects and shaders.
Then later: Ubisoft Has Unreal Engine Running on 3DS Epic said it couldn't be done, well they did it. Treyarch got the Modern Warfare engine running on Wii which IW said was impossible.
UE4 isn't done yet, games that support it won't come out for several years, by which time Wii U will have been halfway done in its lifespan anyway. Remember Samaritan was done on UE3.9
Here are all the UE4 screens in one click display. Aside from maybe 2 screens you wouldn't be able to tell the rest weren't 360 screens. And the good screens are just high end PC, it's not like UE4 is some photo realistic beast, it's not like the generational leap between PS2 and Xbox 360. It's like the difference between a PS3 and a high spec PC which most of us don't even care about anyway.
With regards to the Wii U situation, look at the very best looking PS3 and 360 game - Wii U can do better than that. It won't be like this gen where you will have a Wii game looking like ass compared to some UE3 game with 3 times the dev budget. The only real worry with UE4 is if it becomes the defacto engine of PS4 and Durango and if it is not scalable to Wii U.
Personally I think Nintendo will ink some backroom deal with Epic to develop some kind of version of UE4 running at lower settings just so they can say that UE4 is on Wii U for PR purposes.
I get the feeling we'll hear a lot more about all this next week at E3.
I think they will show PS4 and Durango in some form - if they want to release next year.
Makes me smile everytime I read it:
