Can't believe I must have watched it in the 80s. The sound effects are boss, it was pinging nostalgia points in my brain.

Secret Xbox blockbuster reboot set for reveal

OXM UK set to feature "one of the best games ever made reborn"

Any ideas on what this could be? It sounds like HALO Anniversary but that has already been announced. What xbox blockbusters of the past are there to be reborn?

Panza Dragoon?

Xbox blockbuster really narrows things down, as most of the games have had sequels like Max Payne or Halo, Riddick etc.

Any guesses?

List of Bestselling Xbox 1 games as the article does say "xbox blockbuster"

Xbox games that have sold or shipped at least one million copies.

Halo 2 (8 million)

Halo: Combat Evolved (5 million)
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (3 million: 2.4 million in US,[14] 600,000 in Europe,[15] 5,449 in Japan)

Fable (3 million,[17] may include PC version)

Project Gotham Racing (2.5 million)
Grand Theft Auto Double Pack (1.7 million: 1.59 million in US,[19] 100,000 in UK,[20] 10,515 in Japan)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (1.58 million: 1.48 million in US,[19] 100,000 in UK)
Counter-Strike (1.5 million)

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (1.46 million: 1.26 million in US,[19] 200,000 in UK)

Need for Speed: Underground 2 (1.44 million: 1.24 million in US,[19] 200,000 in UK)

Madden NFL 2005 (1.42 million in US)

Madden NFL 06 (1.41 million in US)

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (1.39 million in US)

ESPN NFL 2K5 (1.38 million in US)

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (1.36 million in US)

Dead or Alive 3 (1.28 million: 1.06 million in US,[19] 217,149 in Japan)
Star Wars: Battlefront (1.22 million: 1.12 million in US,[19] 100,000 in UK)

Star Wars: Battlefront II (1.13 million: 1.03 million in US,[19] 100,000 in UK)

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (1.13 million: 1.12 million in US,[19] 7,643 in Japan)

Need for Speed: Underground (1.1 million: 1.02 million in US,[19] 100,000 in UK)

I have crossed out the multiplats just to try and narrow things down, but you can still see them under the strike through.

We can then eliminate the games which have already had sequels and don't need to be "reborn" so no:

  • Halo
  • Fable
  • Elder Scrolls
  • Dead Or Alive
  • Project Gotham

Which leaves us with Knights of the Old Republic?

Hmm, but why remake KOTOR? It's rather cheap on PC and readily available on a number of DD services. It must be something else. Or maybe it IS about the Halo CE remake.

It might be Shemue... a guy can dream.

I love the boxart for these hunting games. It's like a look inside the mind of a paranoid person, stuck in the woods/jungle/desert. It might be quite funny to play a FPS post apocalypse game where all the animals had rabies and ganged up on you. Like the dogs in Resident Evil but with mutant giraffes and pigeons. LOL

Can't wait to see what Tokyo Jungle is like.

EDIT:

Just read Wii U controller has a built-in battery, which is a rechargeable lithium ion.

Official logo, I like it.

In part one of our exclusive interview with Yoshiaki Koizumi, the Super Mario 3D Land director told us all about his new game. Today we find out more about the man himself as he reveals his inspirations, what it is like to work for Nintendo and why he is party to blame for Ocarina Of Time's Water Temple.

Snippets

YK: Another example of looking at the technology and that being an inspiration for game design is when I was working on Super Mario Sunshine. The first time that I touched the GameCube controller, immediately I thought that the shoulder buttons could be triggers for a water gun. That's the sort of thing I have idle dreams about which have eventually ended up in a game.

ONM: What is it like to work for Nintendo?

I've come to not think of it as work at all, and the staff at EAD Tokyo are a lot like family. It may be rare but it's a very warm place to work.

ONM: What games do you play in the office?

YK: The game that I am playing the most at the moment is Find Mii, but the rest of the staff mostly play Mario Kart during lunch - sometimes they play through the whole lunch hour.

ONM: Have games by companies other than Nintendo inspired you?

YK: I can't say that I ever play non-Nintendo games for ideas about game development, rather I keep an eye on what sort of things people enjoy in games in general, rather than keep an eye on specific game ideas.

ONM: What is your personal favourite game from those that you have created?

YK: Probably the one that has had the most impact on my life and the way I think as a designer is Super Mario 64. I have to say that the design journey that began with Super Mario 64 is not quite done yet, so it's something that I think of as being quite open-ended.

I certainly hope that the entirety of the division will someday realise it with the advance of hardware. I have to say that a 3D display is one big piece of that puzzle as we try to build that vision.

YK: (About) the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time. I sometimes feel that it was my fault that so many people had so much trouble, especially considering that he pinpointed the difficulty in how inconvenient it was to change back and forth between wearing the iron boots and taking them off again.

Because, in fact, I was the one who designed the interface for that game and so if it is anyone's fault that it is hard to put on and take off the iron boots it was mine. I have to say that I didn't know he was going to make that kind of dungeon where you had to keep putting on your boots and taking them off again!

So working for Nintendo is like being in a warm family who all play Mario Kart together every day LOL

Seems like he wants to do a 3DS Mario 64, please, please, please. I want it to look and play as good as the Mario 64 level in Super Mario Galaxy 2, only in 3D and with an orchestral soundtrack.

Yeah I forgot about the rumour about the Xbox blockbuster game reboot thing. I'm very curious to see what it is.

I never played Syndicate but it does sound like an interesting game for a reboot.

It probably was a good game, but at the time I was in Tomb Raider and Goldeneye land, and I just couldn't grasp a game like Syndicate. Plus, I remember the visuals were horrible.

Syndicate was pretty great back in the days I used to game on PC. You used your mouse to move a little team about, almost like Pikmin with guns
