I thought I'd dive into 3D Dot Game Heroes yesterday. It's good fun and brings back a lot of memories. it's just another on the backlog that I'm hammering away at? Summer of the backlog!
I'm in the third dungeon and, admittedly, it really is a good head scratcher at times. I'm so used to plowing through areas but can't do it at times here. I love the charm of this game.
It was loading kind of slow so I went ahead and installed it hoping that would help. I thought I could find some characters created by others online. Isn't there a way to do that? I really want to play as Link.
So the euro 3DS shop finally got the rest of the e3 trailers up to watch in 3D.
Kid Icarus, wow, so colourful and vibrant and fast too. For me this is the game with the best visuals on the system, screw RE Revelations. I love the voice acting and some of the comedy and the 3D works really well in this game. I'm worried about the ground combat which makes up 70% of the game because it doesn't look intuitive. The multiplayer looks bad too but I wont touch that anyway.
Paper Mario - fuck yes - looks awesome. It has Super Paper Mario style side scrolling sections but the main game goes back to proper RPG move wherever you want style of the cube and N64 game.
The game is perfect for 3D too and it looks like a little pop up book in 3D.
Luigi's Mansion looks cool too, I will love exploring that game in 3D, it had some cool looking reflections and animations too.
Animal Crossing left me with mixed feelings, the items are all the same so it will be like the 4th game where they are using the same assets for items. It did show some new things though if you paid attention - you can camp out in the woods, go swimming, there are park benches and what look like bee hives to make honey. Love the music and chilled out atmosphere but why set the game in the same style of town again? Still, it is a perfect portable game and the 3D adds a lot to that charm.
MGS3 looked sometimes good, sometimes nasty ass. It's not crisp and has some jaggies. It really show it's PS2-ish-ness with a soft mushy look and dulled colours. It's a high end PS2 game but versus the Nintendo game trailers it's outshined with better 3D, more vibrancy and colour in the visuals and sharper edges. Some of it looks cool but the trailer focused on crap like pink camoflague or motion control. I think it could be a cool game to play but the trailer left a bad impression. The frame rate was very low too.
One thing about the Nintendo made games is that they all seem to be made for 3D - not just games IN 3D. Luigi's Mansion 2 menus were mind blowing, with the titles pushing out of the screen further and further till you feel it's about to hit your eyeballs. The menus is Paper mario are have various staged levels of depth, very cool.
One thing I am starting to realise is that a year later from the 3DS reveal and we still barely have any 3rd party games worth mentioning being shown. MGS and RE Revelations, that is it and one is a port. What are third parties doing? They gave us that huge list of games that were being made and a year later there is nothing interesting. Meanwhile if you look at the trailers for the Nintendo made games they are all of such a high quality - I'm not suprised 3rd parties feel they face stiff competition, because they aren't even trying.
Hmmm.... Paper Mario. 3DS just sounds so tempting right now. I'd much prefer the Paper Mario series over the Mario and Luigi ones.
The new features in Animal Crossing just doesn't seem like enough of a change up for me. I wonder if you could communicate through the mic with friends? How would the sound quality be?
It looks on the same level as the Thousand Year Door, only in 3D. Luigi's Mansion 2 looked like a cube level game only in 3D, very impressive. I'm really impressed by Nintendo's 3DS games - when viewed in 3D that is.
I know you could do that with Advance wars days of ruin on DS. I never heard the sound quality though.
That's the kind of changes it would need, to be able to speak to your friends on the go. Or if that's not feasable, a cheap blue tooth headset would be excellent. Something that could be used for the Wii U as well. Also, no friend codes for trading, just add your username and done. Some multpiplayer 'party" games perhaps? Multiplayer is vital to this series.
Robio, I can play LBP tonight. Your wife can watch her marathon again.
It could do with having some more multiplayer features. Once you've done a fishing contest there is nothing much to do except wander around someone elses town. I would like to be able to graffiti up other people's town walls.
Yes! Exactly what we need. A graffitti board, maybe hunting for animals(with nets not guns
), online voice is important for this series to evolve like it should and not stay stale.
I would like a bigger area to play in, say the town was only one fifth of the areas you could go to and explore. Making an AC game set just in the city would be cool and you could have jobs like a hotel bell hop.
Yeah, Nintendo shouldn't limit anything in terms of size.
Where's Bugsie been? On Holiday?
Leo! Are you still enjoying the Hunger Games series?
I am definitely... I am somewhere near the middle of the Second One. I usually save my books for when I feel like going out of my home and having a quiet hour or two reading and people watching (usually at a StarBucks)...
...problem is, I haven't left my house much at all in the last week!
Still VERY sick!
...but I'm more than half way done with Monster Tale!
Awesome! I think I'll take a trip to the library today for the third one.
Cool!
...and stop by GameStop and get the Resistance Dual pack on your way back!
KThnxBye!
In all seriousness, you should give R1 a try SIMPLY to experience what was PS3's one and only half-way-decent launch title. You'll be shocked at how basic it is, but equally shocked at how good some parts of it actually looked FIVE YEARS ago! Maybe you'll like it! I don't think I'm going to be anywhere near playing R2 too soon anyway, so waiting to play Online Co-Op isn't gonna kill me!
Whoo! A thousand achievement points in LA Noire! I don't know why I had the obsession with getting everything, but it is done!
