Sony:

"Hard to offer something for everyone."

Sony has defended its "Welcome Back" offer of free games after users criticised the titles available.

SCEE Head of communications Nick Caplin responded to PlayStation Network users unhappy they already own many - or all - of the games on offer.

"We've tried really hard to put together a list of high quality BD games, rather than simply offering cheaper PSN titles," Caplin said. "The average metacritic rating for these games is over 84 per cent, so these are high quality games."

Ars said it was a little too easy, but that's hardly unusual these days.  All of the reviews agreed that it was a new form of game though, kind of a fleshed out Phoenix Wright.

Except Phoenix Wright games regularly get 7.5 reviews, so LA Noires HD graphics and face animation is bumping it up to AAA status?

Batman-Themed FPS Coming From Condemned Developer Monolith

The first Witcher 2 review scores have started to emerge and, while the number of verdicts is thin on the ground at the moment, it's looking good for the sequel.


GameReactor gave Witcher 2 9 out of 10, with nines across the board for graphics, gameplay, sound and lasting appeal.


"It looks great, it sounds great and the story and the universe are both well crafted. It should appeal to all fans of the genre," it says.


Elsewhere Bit-Tech.net doled out a few more points, giving the game 95 percent and CD-Action concurred with a 9.5.
