But will the monster behave any differently than an AI partner does in every game that has one, that is the key. WW had dungeons where you control other characters and solve puzzles using both. Majin is an example of one of those games where you get commands for something and you tell them what to do and where to go to solve puzzles. Enslaved has parts where you tell the chick to do stuff to get around. Its been done a lot.
There is a difference between unique take and unique gameplay. Portal introduced a brand new gameplay mechanic, a major one at that, its a game that PLAYS unlike anything. Ico has the same basic puzzles you find in any action/adeventure game, Zelda games constantly have more complex puzzles than Ico had. It was all pull level, hold switch, move this, get there, its not innovative at all. SotC again introduced entire new gameplay concepts, climbing huge enemies unlike anything we have seen in games before and now others are coping it.
Ico is the perfect example of the artsy game, it looked cool, had an interesting story and concept but the actual game is as basic as it comes.
Well considering it's a full game built around this rather than a 5 minute gimmick yeah I'm sure they'll try to do more with it. Portals weren't introduced by Portal. Prey had them. Narbacular Drop had them.
What I was saying was that Ico's "save the girl" mechanic was different to most since you had to drag her with you, protect her from harm and solve puzzles that enable her to proceed when she can't keep up with you. That's very different to Zelda's "save the girl" mechanic which has absolutely nothing to do with the girl and you just play an action adventure and eventually defeat evil and "save the girl". The same, yet different, goal.
That's all the point I was making with that game, not how basic or complex it was or how boring you found it to be. Just that a phrase can't encompass a whole game as that same phrase can apply to fundamentally different things. Like "you have a pet". People have pets in Nintendogs. And Pokemon. And The Last Guardian. All differ. Majin is the closest thing to The Last Guardian, that's hardly a common occurence and considering how traditional Majin seems to be in its approach The Last Guardian will probably end up very different to that also.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

Provided the new Nintendo will launch in early 2012 and provided they could have it ported by then, I would be in favor of Skyward Sword moving to it. The Wii is really fading fast when it comes to the hardcore scene, nobody seems to care anymore. Even though the rumors and speculation have seemingly come out of nowhere, its actually fitting and perfect timing by Nintendo to move on at this point. Hell even my 10 year old nephews don't play the Wii anymore, all they do is play 360. The games and the community are just not there. Though somehow the console continues to sell solid numbers each month.
I want Zelda now dammit. Porting it over would be pointless as it wont be like GC to Wii, its not going to become a graphically amazing game on the new console.
Of course they will. I am sure it will be an excellent game but revolutionary... still have to see more before saying something ike that.
I thought the puzzles in ICO were genius at the time, though I haven't played the game in years. I remember them feeling very natural, which I loved about them seeeing as how many games just have these ridiculous puzzles that make no sense.
Honestly I dont remember much of the game I just remember I was like "MEH" at the end of it. So I am arguing my feelings.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileThey could bump up the resolution a bit, and what if they could do some really cool things with the crazy new controller?
Play it again. You could have it done in an afternoon.
I have been waiting for Ico collection to replay it.
I like the idea of Nintendo going back to a more traditional controller design, but I really hope the built-in screen is bogus, though. Reminds me too much of GBA-GCN connectivity. *shudders*
Yeah I don't really get all the praise Team Ico gets myself. I found Ico to be a pretty ugly looking game, mainly because everything looked so damned blurry and I ended up getting bored while playing it. I'm not sure how far I got.
I haven't played Shadow of the Colossus yet but it does look like a really cool game in that you fight giant monsters.Still though they've only made two games with this third one to come out sometime eventually and I'm kind of skeptical on it being delayed because it's going to feature something amazingly new. They seem like an overrated development team to me.
No PSN.
I'll just use Fallout NV to keep me warm during these cold, cold days.

Got Portal, but it's on PS3 too...
