I'm definitely playing as many games as I can this weekend before the work week from hell comes up. Anyone playing some Killzone 3 multiplayer?

I'll give you impressions if I can play.
No, I'll hold off till you can play.

That's interesting about your nephew. I've noticed this about a lot of children, they want an awesome art work, but put no effort to make it look good. Instant gratification? Let's get the end result as fast as we can, with very little effort or thought. I'm not saying your nephew is like this, but I see it with a lot of children. So many want to be spoonfed.

Yeah Leo, this generation is very different. Its not just the new generation its how some people approach games. For some its just silly fun, they don't want to really get into the game, they just want to be entertained. For us we want to be immersed, we want to see everything cause its not just silly entertainment its for the love of the game. That above all shows me what kind of "gamer" someone is.

You got it backwards chief. In the old days games were about challenge and obstacles. There were no story and no immersion. Now it is all about super linear gameplay with lots of cutscenes and crappy story telling. Compare the maps of Call of Duty with Doom.
We have games trying to be like movies. The reason? Simple it is easy to market it that way. How the hell do you market good level design? You can't, so why bother building it?

^ My friend has had that picture as his desktop wallpaper for months now. Thanks for bringing it up though Leo.
Don't be a stranger Chris.
Iga, games play a part of it, maybe shaping up the gamers of today but I know many friends my age, grew up with the same games I did and they view games very differently. The guys who play games to experience everything about them, the ones that do all side quests, play on different difficulty levels, and play a wide variety of genres are not the majority. Most find 2 or 3 games that they really master, usually a CoD or Halo or Madden and maybe the gamefly a bunch of games to beat quickly. Those are the ones that do play a decent amount, there are others that literally play like 2 games a year, CoD and Madden. We are all different, I dont think everyone should play games the same way. Just like with movies, there are movie buffs that watch a ton of different kinds of movies, and the casual movie goer that sees the next big movie at the theater. Its been that way since the NES days as well, its all about how into your hobby you are. Today kids have more distractions than ever so maybe that is making less of the gaming buffs and more kids that like a bit of everything
