Different topic, in yesterday's podcast Foolz asked if Yakuza 3 had won any GOTY awards.  How come we don't hear about Japan's media outlets doing GOTYs?  I wonder if they do them and we don;t hear about them, or if the pay-for-play nature of japanese media excludes the practice (or maybe even a cultural thing).

maybe the japanese don't like to pick favorites they just may  be happy to have games or maybe they never leave the country alive with the news of goty things i have no clue and with that said yakuza game series is one of the greatest game series ever made its a shame that they sell poorly over seas the series is what gta should be like

I just read some of the article on the critical reception of Lost in Shadow/A Shadow's Tale.  I think the game's critical reception was rather unfair.  If you compare it for example to a game like Limbo which got many 9s or higher scores, LiS would come across as the better game, yet it got 6s and 7s from most reviewers.  Both of them feel too expensive for what they are yet somehow that didn't factor into Limbo's critical reception as much as it did for LiS (and LiS is a much longer game).  LiS also has many interesting elements in its artistic direction, yet it got it nowhere near the attention and accolades it got Limbo.  It saddens me to see such double standards.  The gaming industry is still back in the days of the class system society.  It makes a world of difference if your game is published by Microsoft as opposed to poor little Hudson ::
