I love situational melee moves -- yakuza does that as well. And plus 1 on the health -- in all the FPS games I've played I don;t think I've ever seen both regenerative health and "stimpacks" depending onthe difficulty level (but then I rarely change difficulties or play same game twice).

Which raises another question, does it have difficulty level selection on the fly (meaning you can change it throughout the game if need be)?

Windows Phone 7, not android (since he's owned my MS).

to bad for him android works better lol

And one more thing:

I can totally understand when this game gets criticized for not being closer to the original or being to modernized like CoD. I can understand completely.

I felt the same way with Planet Puzzle League and how Nintendo casualized it on the DS instead of going with the old themed levels and characters from the past games.

But I will say that GoldenEye Wii does a pretty good job in modernizing GoldenEye. I like the darker tone and grittier action that matches Daniel Craig's role as Bond.

The same writer who wrote the original Brosnan film wrote this one, so that gives it some connection.

Yes and no.  You can play on the highest level of difficulty you've completed for every level prior to the one you're on.  That is, in order to play a level on 007 difficulty, you have to beat every level prior to it at that difficulty, or else it bumps you down.

The regenerating health is on the first two lowest difficulty at least, and haven't played anything higher than that.  The biggest annoyance is that the alarm mechanic from the original is supplanted for just being spotted.  That is, in the N64 game, an enemy may run to press an alarm, and if he does, enemies will spawn and come running -- otherwise, there are finite enemies.  In the Wii game, any enemy sees you, and it trips some implicit alarm and enemies come from nowhere.  That at the overly accurate enemies are what I attribute as a consequence to the regenerating health.  If it's gone on higher levels, then that just sounds infuriating.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

So the Sackboy game probably is going to be a Move title I'm suspecting. It's smart of Sony to exploit the little fella, he's teh most endearing mascot they've come up with yet (yes including that cat they use in Japan).

and that's bad news about Dragon Quest 6 not making it to the EU.  Since it is a DS title there is no reason I can think of why they would release it in the states, but not the EU -- so I guess we won't be getting it afterwall, despite their promise in 2008 and the good sales of DQ9.

Yup, I had it pre-ordered and everything. Sucks.  I can't see anyway that it doesn't mean the US version is cancelled.  There is no issue like with the console games having the PAL and NTSC adaptions, so a Eu cancellation means a US one.

sad slime

I won't believe it until I get a firm confirmation! I won't, I won't, I WON'T!!! Cry

I think Eurogamer is saying that it's "likely canceled," meaning, we don't know yet. Also, I read on GameFaqs that Eurogamer is sending a letter to Square-Enix to see if this is true.

It's because of some guy at Square-Enix EU tweeted saying that "DQVI wasn't in the cards right now" or something like that. It doesn't mean they canceled it. According to GameFAQs.

But IF it's true, than I'll be SO PISSED!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

But why would they cancel it? For stupid crap like MindJack, Gun Loco, Kane & Lynch 3, or other wannabe generic shooters? Uneasy

Finally completed Goldeneye, really suprised that they kept the quality right up through to the finish, the last level(s) were great and the QTE boss fights really gave you that feeling of being Bond. Grinning

Then I restarted the game on 007 difficulty, did the dam level and found every nook and cranny, tried different tactics. This game is awesome, I couldn't stop playing and went halfway through the facility again too.

This game gets a 9.3 from me, it's probably the best single player campaign FPS I have played since the original Halo.

Reading GAF, the PC, PS3 and Wii versions of Black Ops all have buggy problems or lower/bad performance.

360 is the superior version then? Not that I care about it. >_<

Not just superior, just the only version that actually works Hrm

I'm actually glad my copy is bugged so I can return it and not have to own this piece of crap. Now I can use the cash for Epic Mickey or something.

This looks like a fun mode for when you have few people. You get one bullet and your knife. If you kill someone in any way you get another bullet, but you can't actually have more than one at a time. You run around looking for each other, take a shot, and if you fail to hit you can do nothing but try to stab each other.

I find it really messed up that the multiplayer maps are all smooth and look good whilst the single player is a frame rate graveyard. I'm going to try to re-create the Goldeneye controls you posted up there.

That new conduit cover kicks ass.  It makes me want the damn game.  Yay bombast!

The old cover was also what they used in the VERY MANY print ads that they ran for the game.  I noticed in the later runs they changed his blue uniform to brass and made it look a little better, but for many months, that ugly ass cover "was" The Conduit.  Ah, maybe I was too hard on that game and should try it again. (Remembers last "boss" battle)... then again, ah no..

Black Ops single player campaign is about the same quality as Conduit 1. Insta-deaths need to be banned from game design. Dying repeatedly whilst trying to work out what the developer wants in a 2 second time window is not good design. And not only that, they blatantly copy Infinity Ward moments.

There was A LOT to love about The Conduit, it appears the only shortcoming was that the game appeared to suffer from them running out of money and or time and having to rush it out.  They spent so much time on all the amazing tweaking, and the multiplayer, the great controls etc...  It was a very admirable attempt, and as burnt as I was from the first one I'm getting 2 because I am hoping it is the realization of what they were attempting to do with the first.

People who never played the first game don't understand that HV got the fundamentals right, the controls were great, the shader laden enemy characters looked good, the AI was good, the weapons felt great. But it fell down on the most important aspect - level design. It seems that they understand their shortcomings and are looking to improve. At the least I think it will be solid.

I played a little bit of GoldenEye this morning too.

It almost seems as if some game developer had an N64 GoldenEye for breakfast and a Modern Warfare for lunch and (Call of) Doodied out GoldenEye Wii.

I'm not saying its a BAD game. It just doesn't remind me of the N64 version. AT ALL. IN. THE. LEAST.

I am using a Wii Motion Plus Remote with the game and I SWEAR it feels as if it is using the technology. When it is the free motion mode, the sensitivity is almost TOO accurate. I think at one point I farted and the minor shockwaves from my ass threw off my aim in the game.

The scripted set-pieces with 006 feel TOO CoD-ish to me!

It reminds me very, very much of the original game. Even the first level, how can you not be reminded by the N64 game when it goes out of its way to re-create the first part of the dam level or the bungie jump off the dam, or running about the top of the dam, or the sneaky stealth like Goldeneye gameplay? The game does not user wii motion plus, yet the melee move still feels frakking great.

That's because the game suffers from the post-apocalyptic hellscape that is the FPS world after Halo, whether every damned game, nomatter how out-of-place, has to have regenerating health.  Halo, it makes sense, you're a futuristic warrior in a power-suit.  Bond?  FREAKING BOND?!  The consequence is that combat has to come down to enemies rushing you and never missing a shot.  They've completely borked the balance.  The game's also hurt by pushing these in-game cutscenes versus the never-cut-from-the-action style interactions in the original.

Yes I have it.  The first few levels were kind of crap and the nostalgia didn't carry it, but it has improved.

There is the 007 classic mode where you play with a health system the same as the original game, did you miss that? Also enemies never miss a shot? What? The cut scenes interupt the game too much? What? No they don't. The first few levels were crap? The Dam and facility are two of the best levels. You are really weird sometimes Yoda.

Which raises another question, does it have difficulty level selection on the fly (meaning you can change it throughout the game if need be)?

Man up. Only like 6 enemies appear when an alarm is triggered and then when you clear them you drop back down to stealth gameplay.

Reading GAF, the PC, PS3 and Wii versions of Black Ops all have buggy problems or lower/bad performance.

i don't believe that it seems like  a excuse to try to get 360 version to sell the most

GG run into a bunch of issues himself (outside hating the gameplay like me) and returned it, but he's more about the single player, the multi player which is what most want seems to perfrom fine for most people.

Yeah, eggmeister more people have had the freezing issue at GAF on the wii version.

i had two occurrences where I had to restart the wii in about 45 min of playing tonight.

Second was in single player I was pausing to adjust the aim controls and the game hard locked. Had to switch off the wii, the remote power button was unresponsive.

Glad to see I'm not blowing hot air here on the game freezing up.

^If you ever figure out how to normalize both the Y and X axis in those games let me know.  It's default is reversed.

You can change all the camera axes in the game.

Famitsu review details

- Call of Duty: Black Ops (10/10/9/10, 39 points): Even in a land where first-person shooters are far from a mainstream genre, Famitsu's editors definitely seem to understand that games like Black Ops are the cream of the crop when it comes to modern game development. "The overwhelming sense that you're in the action is far more prevalent here than in other titles," one writer said. "There are lots of war FPSes, but play this game, and you can really feel how far ahead of the pack the entire series is these days. The quality of the experience is second to none, and the movie-like scenes are amazing."

"There are no dramatic changes from Modern Warfare 2," another added, "but that doesn't stop this from taking the throne at the cutting edge of the FPS genre."

- Sonic Colors (Wii) (8/8/8/10, 34 points): "The classic Sonic sense of speed feels incredible in this game," began one writer. "The 3D tricks to each stage are pretty surprising, and the music and visuals only add to the tension. There are new discoveries to make in every stage whenever you get a new color power, so you're constantly exploring and trying out new things."

Another editor was a little more pessimistic, though: "That speediness occasionally makes you lose your bearings, and overall the game's on the difficult side."

- Sonic Colors (DS) (8/8/8/8, 32 points): Despite the slightly lower scores, the Famitsu portable review crew overall seemed just a little more enthusiastic for the DS verson of this title. "The sheer sense of speed when Sonic gets moving is just amazing, and I also think it's neat how he goes back and forth between the two screens," one writer said. "There are lots of action games where you're given a set of skills and have to divide your attention between them, but this one does a good job of making you use all your skills in original ways."

"It feels very much like the original Sonic in terms of gameplay," wrote another, "but the color powers really serve to expand the action elements in this game. The old series tradition of going so fast that you wind up getting killed by something before you can react is still there, but the visuals are fun and there's a ton of depth to explore."

- FlingSmash (8/7/8/7, 30 points): "It's not explosively addictive, exactly," said Famitsu, "more the sort of thing that you gradually get into as you play it. The controls couldn't be simpler -- just waggling the Wii remote and hitting the A button -- so players of any ability can keep up with the tempo."

Opinions were divided on the depth of the game. "It takes time to get the hero to go the way you want, but bashing up enemies and walls is really exciting," one writer said. "Finishing the game is easy, but if you try to get good rankings and so forth, things get a lot more difficult -- it's well balanced that way." Another reviewer disagreed: "You do have rankings to aim for and medals to collect, but the process to get them is just more of the same -- there isn't much depth or volume to the game."

- EA Sports MMA (8/7/8/8, 31 points): MMA may be a bit more of a niche sport in Japan than in the US at the moment, but Famitsu's editors still had a lot of good things to say about EA's take on it. "The give-and-take in each phase of the bout -- standing, clinching, ground work -- is very realistic and faithful to how MMA works," one said. "Each fighter is true to life as well, and I like how the roster has a lot of fighters familiar to Japanese people. The controls aren't that hard, and it's a relatively quick learning curve before you're enjoying the process behind each bout. The career mode is pretty much what you'd expect, but having people like Rutten and Gracie be your instructors is really neat."

The package isn't perfect, though: "The fact that there isn't anything really new here, along with the overly direct Japanese localization, is a shame."

- Start the Party! (7/7/6/7, 27 points): It's plain that enthusiasm for Sony's new Move party game isn't really there among Famitsu editors. "Basically it's a simple collection of minigames, something that anyone can pick up and enjoy," one wrote. "The controls are well done, and it's a stressless experience to play." However, there's a distinct lack of depth, apparently: "There are 20 minigames in this title, but it seems like a lot less when you're actually playing them. The rules are very simple on all of them, and you go through them so quickly that the package seems pretty light overall."

Saw these Goldeneye controls Agnates, dude is trying to make WaW controls on Goldeneye.

http://uk.gamespot.com/wii/adventure...=997757&page=2

I tested it out, for people having problems this might help to give them a more stable and easier experience.

I tested them you do have to bash the sides of the screen a bit to turn, it does emulate WaW controls, unless you customised that. And for me I had to increase the horizontal turning speed to halfway on the bar and reduced the horizontal dead zone to 10.
I think I might try and emulate MOHH2 controls for ADS and see what happens.

The copies are all the same, you probably just don't notice the low frame rate. It's ok, some people don't, for others it's a crippling issue. Chances are the crashing will come to you also, in the story mode at least, as it seems to be common enough. As said already, the multiplayer performs better, so that aspect shouldn't have any major issues regardless of how long you play it for. The best FPS on Wii however is GoldenEye though Happy

meh goldeneye was overrated on the 64 and it is on the wii, perfect dark on the 64 was a 100 times better then golden eye, better graphics, better gameplay, better story, bots yet its over looked next to goldeneye just because that came out first

Well Black Ops is most certainly not the Perfect Dark Wii equivalent or anything close to it since it's just more COD so GoldenEye is still the best FPS on Wii regardless of what the best FPS on N64 may or may not have been. In truth, there's been nothing quite like GoldenEye on any platform lately since most FPS either take after COD's shooting gallery campaign style, focus on multiplayer alone, or do both. To have a single player FPS with actual AI and a bit of variety in how you can approach the gameplay and how that lends to actual replayability is (sadly, actually) quite the revelation in this day and age. It's simply a huge shame that it's being so underrated simply because Activision throws more money in yet another stale COD instalment that offers little more than a highlight of just how little that formula has progressed over the years. I mean, yeah, Black Ops' multiplayer is better than GoldenEye's for sure if you're all about online play alone since it has no local play, but at the same time the single player in GoldenEye is leaps and bounds beyond Black Ops' which is like the 4th game in 4 years (3rd in 3 years for Wii alone) to use a nearly identical multiplayer format so is hardly something to write home about.
