Top 10 Game Executive gaffe quotes
10.) Kudo Tsunoda - Microsoft Game Studios: “Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first-person shooters on the PC anymore...”
9.) Ken Kutaragi, Sony Computer Entertainment: "I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that."
8.) Jack Tretton, Sony Computer Entertainment: "If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1200 bucks for it."
7.) Ken Kutaragi - Sony Computer Entertainment: [PS3 is] “for consumers to think to themselves ‘I will work more hours to buy one’. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else.”
6.) Dave McLean, Microsoft Game Studios Australia: "Gaming's not just for sweaty thirty year-olds in Metallica t-shirts."
5.) Mark Pincus, Zynga: "I don't ... want innovation. You're not smarter than your competitor. Just copy what they do and do it until you get their numbers."
4.) Robert "Bobby" Kotick, Activision: "The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games."
3.) Laurent Fischer, Nintendo of Europe: "Only geeks and otaku need [additional memory storage on the Wii] "
2.) Phil Harrison - Sony Computer Entertainment: "I believe that the Sixaxis controller offers game designers and developers far more opportunity for future innovation than rumble ever did. Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is. And we don't see the need to do that. Having said that, there will be specific game function controllers, potentially like steering wheels that do include vibration or feedback function -- not from us but from third parties."
1.) Peter Moore - Microsoft Game Studios: [in response to question on Red Ring of Death] "You know, things break."
So in the movie hype thread there is a ton of new stuff.
This new film called I Saw the Devil is getting rave reviews.
Check out the premise:
Lee plays a secret service agent who's wife has been brutally slain by a sick and twisted serial killer played by Choi. With the help of the girl's father, who's a retired police chief, Lee is able to track down the closest suspects and delivers a swift beat down before moving on to the next in line. Finally he's able to track down Choi at his slaughter house and figure out that he is indeed the killer he's been looking for. But instead of killing him right there and then he beats the living shit out of him and lets him go, but not before inserting a small GPS unit in to him. After that a demented game of catch and release takes place where Choi, who has no idea why this man is after him, gets his ass handed to him and then patched up to be ready for the next round
EA fires back at Kotick about his comments on EA.
Tim Schafer fires back at Kotick:
What is going on today. Its fight day.
You would think that these companies would just let the legal department get on with their shit in private.
I read what Kotick said about Schafer and it was fairly professional with no insults, at least.
Yup, today Kotick doesn't seem so bad. He seemed reasonable about the CoD guys and Schafer.
We should start insulting other posters from other boards, but only exchange messages once every month or so.
We should start with Flying Phoenix from GAF.
For posting here twice a year as Punk.
Which site gets to report the message?
Tried to play some VC last night. No good.
It's a dry spell alright.
I don't really give a fuck either. I'll start watching Cosmos again tonight.
We could let Gamespot do it, but they'd sit on the story for an extra 3 weeks.
Quantum Theory got a 2, that sounds generous. I played the demo, holy crap that was bad.
I played the Vanquish demo a few days ago. It was boring.
For me Castlevania, Vanquish, Fallout New Vegas, and Fable III are my must buy games. I'll probably just rent Kirby, Star Wars, and Enslaved.
Its not horribly broken or anything, it is just sooooo generic and a poor ripoff that I had to quit.
You are boring!
Actual news?!
EA Sports delayed NBA Elite essencially killing it as no one likes to play late released basketball games. Plus they removed NBA Jam from the deal, now NBA Jam will be a separate release.
Peter Moore says its a decision to make NBA Elite a groundbreaking game, blah blah blah.
