Foolz/ Homr, watching the Finals? I'm backing the Pies. Aftrr a good start VERY sloppy play from both sides, but they tightened it up. Foolz are you not from StK?
You got a list of them yet? I'd like to see what you have beaten this year.
Over at the ring of fire we all have our lists. Here is mine.
Games Beaten:
Hours Played:
Total hours played - 738 hours
I love that you can tell the exact moment my PS3 died by looking at that list.
I got to play it tonight and it was impressive. I must hand it to Ninja Theory, they are one of the best at virtual acting and facial modeling. The cutscenes look superb, the voice acting seems great so it has that side covered. The gameplay fells very Uncharted but replacing gunplay with melee combat. The combat was simplistic, the usual Square and Triangle combos with a block button.
What was most impressive was the camera work, it frames every moment of the action in the most exciting kind of way. When you are attack an enemy the camera moves in with every blow usually ending with a cool cinematic finishing move. During the platforming sections ( handled exactly like Uncharted) you get some shots that are downright jaw dropping. They mastered the art of the epic camera shot.
The trailer at the end of the demo sold me on the game. It looks to be much more than just a simple brawler. I can't wait to see reviews as they should be coming any moment now.
Am watching it. Not from ST. Kilda, though (Richmond). I am barracking for a close match! Well that failed.
Probably rather St. Kilda win. You know, everyone's meant to hate Collingwood!
lol, well I got what I wanted. What an incredibly stupid system, though. :X
Edit: same day as Melbourne derby. Fuck you AFL.
Edi2: parklife same day as well lol. Failure.
Plus Battle Arena Melbourne - local fighting game tourney I'm itching to go to.
Should be fun trying to hit up the Melbourne derby immediately afterwards.
I was working all day, so I managed to pop in to my local TAB to catch glimpses. Mostly saw the last minute.
I'm about to embark on an interesting project.
I just picked up an Xbox Shenmue II, so I can't wait to see what I've missed out on all these years...and if it'll actually be playable on the 360.
Did you play the first? I think people who play the first appreciate II more. II is more gamey with more stuff to do but it doesn't show what drives Ryo that well, though there are still cool set pieces. The first is my favorite though, it's more adventure-like, you get to know the people in the small town Yokosuka more, etc. It has better atmosphere basically, despite the bad dub (which II on Dreamcast didn't have as they used the Japanese audio, while the Xbox port went back to the same English voice cast). You'll probably need some time to get used to the controls and style, both out of and in fights as the former is unlike modern games and the latter is like a dodgy version of Virtua Fighter. How come you got it though? If you like it you'll just be sad there's no end to the story...
Edit: oh, I forgot II has that digest movie showing the gist of what happened in the first, but it's different playing it. Watch that first though, even if you cringe at the audio, you will need to get used to it for the sequel anyway.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never played the original, seeing as I never had the means to. I mostly picked it up out of sheer curioisity - I never owned an Xbox back in the day, and it's one of those things I saw recently and thought that it'd be at least worth playing, just to see what all the fuss was about. It'll also be the same excuse if I happen to come across Panzer Dragoon Orta or Jet Set Radio Future. It's also the way I plan to catch up on Oddworld, because the same store had a copy of Munch's Oddysee that I'll need to play one of these days.
There is the digest, but there's also a DVD movie that comes with the game that goes even further. Picking it up used though, it doesn't have it - but I found the full thing (I think - it's 90 minutes long) on Google Video, so I'll brush up on that before I start.
Was it like this?
Shenmue 1 and 2 both need to be played IMO
Holy crap
Jiro Ishii Says No to Ace Attorney Reports
428 scenario writer only working on Time Travelers.
The answer to today's earlier headline "Is Level-5 Making a New Ace Attorney" is apparently no.
A few hours after posting a mysterious Tweet that some (including sweet innocent me!) took to mean he might be working with Capcom's Shu Takumi on a new Ace Attorney game, Level-5's Jiro Ishii cleared things up with another Tweet: "A misunderstanding seems to be spreading, so let me say that I'm currently working only on Time Travelers."
(Time Travelers, incidentally, is the reason Ishii moved from Chunsoft to Level-5. Read about it here.)
The whole "Gyakuten XX" thing ("Gyakuten" being the first part of the Japanese name for Ace Attorney) in Ishii's original Tweet appears to have just been some sort of little gag with Square Enix's Jin Fujisawa. The two had had dinner the night before, and the Tweet was part of some "thank you" formalities.
Perhaps Ishii and Fujisawa had entertained themselves during dinner with a round of "Gyakuten XX" (admittedly a fun game) and had chosen to continue the game on to Twitter. Little did they know that just a few days prior Capcom's Keiji Inafune had made some comments about working with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino on a project of some form.
Word is it's postponed until next week. Good idea.
Nice joint.
This is ridiculous. How much money do these guys make? Swankiest dev house I've ever seen.
Not enough to have a place like that. This should be Kojima's place, or Mikami's.
Identical except with avatars on screen with animations. It even has the same cage goal thing. Also in the demo the distance is much shorter and its not on a golf course, there are trees and stuff in your path.
