LittleBigPlanet 2 Technical Director Alex Evans demonstrated the sequencer, which lets you arrange notes on a four-measure grid with the beat at the bottom and multiple octaves of notes running vertically. You choose from a selection of instrument samples including a honky tonk piano, acoustic guitar, drum kit, beatbox, and roughly 30 more that were shown in the demo (more are expected for the final game, Evans said). Notes can be built into samples, which can then be repeated and mixed further via a larger timeline object in the level creation screen.
But this new timeline feature can do a lot more than just music. Elements from a level can be linked to it as well, allowing creators to sync in-game events much more easily than they could in the original LittleBigPlanet. Evans showed a simple example where a block burst into flames just as the bass drum beat came in on the background music.
Level creators have already figured out some incredibly robust uses for this new feature. Evans showed off the innards of an entire top-down racing game, where each section of track was actually actually tied to a timeline scrolling down the screen. This innovative use of the timeline feature was actually discovered by a prolific LittleBigPlanet level creator that the team brought in to design story levels for the sequel.
Do you guys know what this means, now you can have timed events tied to a timer rather than a ton of switches and mechanisms!
When I saw that the global sales of the PS3 had basically caught up with the 360 last month I was taken aback. I've been so used to thinking of them as being in third place, I have not yet adjusted my thinking of the PS3 as being a console that only a lucky few have access to.
It doesn't change anything for me, hopefully it will just mean there will be more people to talk to about exclusives.
Prototype of Ryu in Tekken.
Woah. That Catherine game by Atlus looks really freaky, I like. I really enjoy Atlus games so it's great to see them working on the 360/PS3. I'll definitely keep my eye on this game.
Crysis 2 MP footage.
You dirty you.
More experimental in some ways - like fully exploiting internet enabled distribution methods. When XBLA started up on the 360 buying games via download was still a novelty -- now it is an industry unto itself -- as lame as most of the offerings on DSi Ware are the concept of a store on a handheld is an impressive amount of "progress" in a short period of time.
I think publishers are going to continue to grapple with how to make money, and they'll be looking to the console manufacturers for help in terms of extending the amount of time a game is earning revenue.
Hardware-wise I think you'll see the manufacturers be very conservative. I am not yet convinced there will be another game-focused XBox. MS interactive seems to be shutting down the Zune, they killed the Courier and Allard and Fries leaving at the same time indicated to me some cultural shift - possibly philosophical conflict over the future direction of that division. The fact that a person of Fries calibre was replaced with essentially a lifestyle model - a spokesperson - says volumes. I'd say they are waiting to see how the Kinect pans out. I can see the next 360 having better parts, but essentially the same dev kit - something just to keep MS in the living room.
I think Sony will stupidly plummet into the promise of 3D, and use the PS as a reason to buy 3D TV's. They need something to bail them out now that physical media is no longer the default. Hopefully 4K will blossom before 3D dies (or the PS4 gets too far along in development) and the TV industry will go down that avenue instead of 3D. I don't see Move as being a make-or-break product for them, they see it as an augmented Eye-toy this gen that will be fully integrated next gen.

Thoughts anyone? Three sources, so this goes pass the rumor territory.
Sounds ad-hoc for dirty hentai games. The sky is the limit.
Yeah, I'm going to trust them on this one until I see it. I can see that working having some buttons on the back. It's such a weird idea, I have to think it works well or they would not go there.
As long as it's dual analog I'll be happy (NINTENDO IT'S NOT TO LATE DAMNIT, PUT ANOTHER STICK ON THE 3DS!).
AWESOME. I loved King's Bounty The Legend but was a bit underwhelmed by Armored Princess, it wasn't bad but didn't seem to have enough new things about it so I didn't play it much just yet. This expansion looks like it makes it as exciting as the original finally, with two more campaigns and a game editor!
