I actually really liked the N64 Castlevania at the time...if nothing else it had a great atmosphere. Funny thing is, many publications gave it great reviews...then started acting like it was horrible a few years later. But yeah, I liked it more than the PS2 games.

I liked it too. I don't think it held up well in the long run (pretty much like most early 3-D games), but it was still much better than Lament of Innoncence and whatever the other one was called on the PS2.

3DS is a really great looking machine. I've never been able to get into handhelds but 3DS is really tempting. If I could have one the size of a laptop I'd fucking love it. LOL

They do 3D laptops these days, ridiculously expensive though.

I think Nintendo might have learned that they can compete and yet (not) compete if you get what I mean. By hardware distinction with 3 seperate machines now - touch screen - 3D - motion control. If they make a traditional machine i.e a decent powered system with standard features - but then throw a hardware gimmick on top (and I mean gimmick in the best possible sense).

So anyhow, all these new technologies like Move, Kinect, 3D etc brings up another interesting question. Do you think that the next round of consoles will be more experimental or daring in nature?

The next round of systems is going to be very interesting. Depending on the direction each company takes, it could be amazing...or a complete disaster.

I see what you guys are saying. I'm excited already.

PSP2 has me wondering what it is now. We hear stories today about it being discless and having a touch interface. Or that it might be an android phone.

I don't think a touch screen PSP Go would be enough to be called the "next" PSP so I'm wondering what other features it might have and if they will try to get some 3D screen maker in to have feature parity with 3DS.

Eurogamer: You admit the PS3 got off to a slow start. What was the chief factor in it's resurgence?

Andrew House: I don't think there's a single factor. But if I'm pushed to say the most significant, I'd say it's the entry level hardware price point and the launch of the PS3 Slim.

Beyond that though, a consistent theme for us is we are in essence building more value into a PS3 as time goes on, not just for the new consumers that come in, but also to a degree for existing consumers as well. At a time when people are financially challenged, they're sensitive and receptive to a console that in essence gets better over time.

Eurogamer: You mention 3D. Some aren't thrilled by having to wear glasses. Is that a real issue for Sony?

Andrew House: I think that's fair. We've been I hope careful and judicious in the way we've positioned 3D for games.

At no point are we saying, 'Right, that's it, all games are going to 3D and people will play 3D all the time.' I don't think that's the way this will find its way into people's gaming consciousness.

To be frank, I've been encouraged but also somewhat surprised at how quickly our developers have moved full scale into full games in 3D. The critical thing is that it's an option. It's not a mandate. It's not something we're trying to force people to have.
