Watch the episodes! They're great!
At some point I will.
That article was great. You guys came up with Soccer, not us. I love how the name came about:
“They took the third, fourth and fifth letters of Association and called it SOCcer. So there you are.”
Why couldn't they take the first three letters so we could call its ASSer. It fits better.
Infamous 2 gameplay!! This looks to be a bigger leap than Uncharted 2!
That blew me away. It looks to be a bigger improvement than Uncharted 2 was to Uncharted 1. The gameplay is Infamous but everything around it is so much better. The camera work is PERFECT, bringing you close to the action at the right moments. The combat looks improved, grinding is faster and destructable environments! That tornado power took out a helicopter in one hit, as it should which is suprising cause so many games are afraid to make your character powerful. Graphically it is stunning!
The only bad thing I got out of it was Cole's voice, yikes. Get Nolan NorthThe optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds

It looked exactly like Uncharted except you had full control of your jumps. The problem is that jump looks like it kind of sucks (which is classic Castlevania!). The areas where you can grab onto is not clear. There is a part where there looks to be a ledge but the character just falls right through it. It needs some work.
From Pachter. Hmm. Nintendo has the most to gain from bringing out new hardware right now.
And it's an effing calendar.
Attach rate doesn't mean shit when the hardware sales are so uneven. With 70 million and counting worth of an install base, obviously many of them will be truly "casual" gamers and therefor lead to the lower attach rate statistics. There are still plenty owners who are hobbyist gamers and still buy software, as long as it's actually there (and a lot of it on Wii happens to be there from Nintendo, so they gain even more, with many of their titles being massive hits). The Wii has still sold as much software volume as the 360, which has the highest attach rate, while being on the market a full year less. That's nothing to scoff at and I fail to see how stats are constantly twisted to paint a bleak picture for Nintendo and a better picture for clearly underperforming (especially with all they have going for them, with all the big budget third party productions being for theirsystems and the whole industry trying to hype the same features they sell, HD and all that) competitors. Nintendo can launch a new system whenever they want at this point. They probably have the most profitable games division right now, and they have no need to launch a new system first. The Wii wasn't first either. They might, but it's up to their strategy and goals, and not because people keep saying/willing the Wii is in a bad position or whatever Pachter and his kin come up with. Hell, despite the situation, when publishers show financial statistics the Wii is often responsible for a decent chunk of their profits, so I fail to see who they're helping by dropping their already limited support for it. Really. As for this year's decline, Pachter probably means decline in revenue and not actual unit/copy sales numbers, and that's obviously natural since Nintendo this year has no Wii Fit (Plus) craze going for $100 a piece. The high % of decline is a testament to how good they did previously, not how bad they're doing now, and is ridiculous to claim otherwise, but I suppose that's what Pachter does best these days, being an ignorant, whiny, media attention whore.

I picked up Rage of the Gladiator from WiiWare yesterday. For those of you who don't recognize the name, it was that Punch Out styled gladiator fighting game. I've fought through the first 3 opponents so far, and so far I'm not overly impressed. It plays more like Super Punch Out, where you just fight till someone stays down (which seems to be after you've knocked them down 3 times).
In the game's favor they do incorporate some cool things. There's a lot of story in this game so it's not just about winning a championship. Plus after battles you earn some XP points that you can use to trade in for special abilities like health regeneration, special magic, etc.
I definitely need to spend some more time with the game before I pass judgement, but the game's main problem is that it just doesn't feel smooth enough. At the moment I'd say it's not a bad game, but if you're hoping for something as good as Punch Out you'll be very let down.
I'm also researching all sorts of new gear (I just got the MGS1-style uber radar completed, but its battery life sucks so I'll have to upgrade it before it's more usable) as I continue to level up my motherbase R&D and other areas, the main campaign doesn't go through even half of the content it seems. And you do need all the new goodies as the new boss variations are much more powerful with many more reinforcements.
And I'm not even near the crazy stuff like the Monster Hunter content either. I'd tell how many hours I've played but I kinda fucked up my record when I left the PSP on overnight. I was a bit disappointed with the ending (I think that there will be some more main story though, when I complete my Metal Gear ZEKE and what not, alongside other hints of having more story) and overall length but with all these extras it has rapidly won me over again and I think it's my second favorite to the first MGS. I do hope it has some tougher stealth missions, near the end it had some very good but very brief stuff with more aware enemies, but I'm sure they'll pop up in extra missions. I wish I could enjoy the multiplayer aspect, co-op and versus, but even all solo it's an awesome game full of content.
Maybe the next Metal Gear could expand on this whole mission/motherbase premise, but without ruining the current story by expanding or explaining it too much, and instead focusing on the gameplay. Have you actually be just another troop working for Big Boss (like the tons I've rectuited in PW) and getting sent to random conflicts all around the world, to fight the good fight, liberating areas, working with guerillas, messing with the CIA and KGB's missions, and gaining funds for the motherbase, slowly raising through the ranks and becoming an agent and what not, with access to better and more Snake-like gear (and code names!) as you progress through more dangerous missions that require such gadgets, with the Monster Hunter vibe expanded further in co-op etc. Day 1.

That never mentioned attach rates, I have no clue where you got that from. He says software sales, not sure if he would say revenue if he meant it. Though yes you are right that the decline might mean they did amazing last year, still its a decline.
Here is some more for you to get angry about
“We think this is remarkable, given growth in the Wii hardware installed base of 44 per cent and growth in the DS installed base of 33 per cent over the last 12 months. In our view, this indicates that Nintendo’s customers either are not finding enough software to satisfy their needs, or need less software than the typical Sony or Microsoft customer.”

Blur sold 31k units.
No it did not cause you never said so. I'll remember to read your mind through my computer screen next time.
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Nintendo release a next gen console first, in fact I almost expect it. I see them with the biggest need for growth. They need a mass storage device, HD compatability, beefier CPU & GPU, more RAM, more robust online functionality that a mass storage device will allow for, and they could probably go with a blu-ray drive. Blu-ray is starting to become more necessary.
Microsoft and Sony are pretty close to each other and could last a bit longer then Nintendo on releasing a new system. The only barrier for Microsoft is the lack of a blu-ray drive. While they can still do fine without it it is beginning to be a nice caveat.
