So I'm a few hours into Silent Hill Wii....and really loving it!! The only part I hated so far was the first nightmare scene, cuz I couldn't throw the guys off me and they kept butt-humping Harry to death! But now its all good....
Anyway, I don't know how to explain it but this is the most inspired Silent Hill since SH3, and in fact I like it more than SH3. What's great is that it actually IS a survival horror game, a true adventure and not another action horror shooter. The lack of combat doesn't really matter since SH's combat always sucked anyway, and it puts the focus on what these games should be focused on; adventure, exploration, and atmosphere. Graphically and soundwise its very solid for a Wii game, though still not Metroid or anything. I'm impressed with the way the camera follows Harry...it really looks like he's looking at the world as you go and not just being pointed around. The pacing also is perfect, always something new and the environments are much more interesting than the last 2 SH games combined.
Also love the phone and how it works through the controller, and the psychological profiling!
All in all very happy with this game, but I fear Konami is too stupid to realize they were on the right track here....
I think so because it's the natural evolution of where gaming is headed. It's one of my favorite things about the PSP. You can download practically anything for it. New retail games, PSOne classics, and download only games. The only thing they really got wrong with it is the pricing. For download gaming to really take off they need to discount the games to compensate the gamer. Between savings on production and distribution costs, downloadable games should be at the very least 20% to 30% less than retail, if not more. Until that happens it will never really take off.

For the chases, make sure you use both the chuk and remote at the same time in the direction they indicate. A couple of chases in the directional arrows disappear so make sure you remember which way to gesture.
It's an awesome game. I started up another game as soon as I fininshed it. The ending is wow.
With SDHC cards, they should really scrap the file size limit and rethink it. It's not like these cards are expensive.
Oh yeah, Edgecrusher, try calling the all the phone numbers on posters and such. A lot of the calls, most of them contain incidental details, story nuggets that flesh out the world. Some of them seem random but if you listen carefully and play it through it fleshes out the story.
And try playing it a second time answering questions opposite from your first playthrough in the psychologists office.
And so if they do have internal memory then even without a file limit why would a dev choose to make his game incompatible with DS whose owners don't have an SDHC yet, ie, a game bigger or as big as their internal memory?
Unless it comes with an SDHC included but then that will raise the initial cost and could hurt its long term success so I don't see them adding that much memory by default. And they should still have a file limit, can't have games bigger than retail on DL and end up with say, a FF type RPG with full FMV on download (yes, highly unlikely someone would bother making a DL-only version of such a game) yet full retail cartridge titles unable to reach that content. Or end up having compressed files and asking installations on users highly unlikely to be familiar with such terms.
I guess they could have a limit for DL-only games that go up to $15 but also offer full retail titles for download like Sony is doing, and since those will most likely be bought by more advanced users anyway then allow them to not have a limit at all, so long as they're in separate pages etc (and explicitely state such when you start it up) not lumped together like on PSN. 3DSiWare completely separate interface from a diff store page that has retail titles.

For a third party core game on Wii, 11 on the all format charts is very good. Did Red Steel 2 even appear in the top 20 NPD when it launched? I can't remember.
Pre order today!
Soon you'll be able to play games in full 3D. This winter Nintendo will release the revolutionizing Nintendo 3DS, which will, through cutting edge technology, give you an amazing three demensional experience in your games - and without 3D glasses. You can play all your old DS games on it, as well. Register your interest today!
It'll be pretty successful in Japan since the PSP still sells a lot there.

I hope. I hope they also add a VC for GBA and GB/GBC games, maybe even for the ability to download some DS games.
The DSiWare has been disappointing, but it shows the potential. It could've been a experiment to see how it'd do. And then maybe Nintendo was going to do a much better download plan with the 3DS.
That's what I hope, anyway.
