The 3DS sounds like Nintendo jumping back into the race of trying to impress people with shiny graphics. And that's a race the company dropped out of years ago specifically because it recognized it couldn't win.

EA's first-party blogger and outspoken mouthpiece Jeff Green found this out the hard way, and spread the word. "Booted twice—and progress lost—on my single-player C&C4 game because my DSL connection blinked. DRM fail. We need new solutions,"
Delicious.

And achievements. Glorious, achievements.
Oh. Don't feel that you HAVE TO find them! I just loved the feeling of suddenly seeing them cast without expecting it. They often turned the tide of battle and then, once found, I exploited them whenever I could.
It's impossible to get them all in one playthrough anyway as "good" and "evil" units have unique troops and spells.
They're just one awesome part of an overall awesome game...
There's so much more than Yoda and I touched upon. Half the fun of the game is uncovering these types of things!
I give them some slack. I mean, those were my first reactions before I knew anything other than "Nintendo announces new DS". They are in the industry though, you'd think they'd read the press release before saying anything on the record.
I remember the press when the PSP and DS were shown at that E3. Jon Davison along with many others thought Nintendo was done. That the one area that they had control over (handheld) was about to be snatched away by the PSP. And they had good reason to think that. Nintendo had that really horrible, toy-looking version of the Phat with one speaker, and Sony had this glorious screen and higher capacity media -- it looked like the end.
E3 DS:
It didn't even have the proper Nintendo cross-pad.
Almost every day for the last 3 weeks. And I've not had a drop to drink for a month, so it's not hangover related.
Maybe it is the change in season?
Activision drops a game into the stores without notice. "How to Train Your Dragon"
Never a good sign. Released on all formats.
Zelda is obviously the best choice but I played this game so many times already I just want a new experience. I'll eventually get Zelda but I want to try something new. As for Dr. Mario, I love puzzle games and they last forever. Like Tetris Party, these games never end. I definitely get my money's worth.
And than there's Castlevania and Blaster Master. Problems with these games is that the honeymoon doesn't last long. But they're fun. It's tough deciding here. These points are just so expensive!
By the way, SMT Strange Journey is out today and Gamestop is having that huge Friday sale this week. Should I just save my money and see what they have for sale? Does anyone have the ad or leak yet? Wonder why they didn't reveal the items on sale yet.

Are GS editors a bunch of idiots? Don't they know that the 3DS is the successor and not another DS?
Gamespot is dead. I mean, look at the forums? It's a ghost town!

I really want to check out Ogre Battle for the SNES that's on VC. Is it similar to OB64?
And isn't Tactics Ogre basically FF Tactics? Loved the GBA versions. Both stories make no sense however, like most Matsuno games.

I guess Dr. Mario would give me the most legs out of those, although Zelda is a classic! What to do, what to do...
And does that Saturn thing have Radiant Silvergun and Panzer Dragoon Saga? I'd buy it then!

How is it?
I couldn't get into Etrian Odyssey. But Strange Journey looks like Etrian Odyssey with a story, which makes the dungeon crawling more compelling because it actually has a purpose. The power of having a narrative in games.
Also, is it demonic? You know my stance on demonic Shin Megami Tensai games. I got into Persona because it wasn't really about demons, the occult, and religion, so I can get into Strange Journey if it's less about that and more about the RPG.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
It is demonic (japanese demons if that makes a difference). The game designers from Etrian handled the battle system and some of the programming. It also shares the same engine. You spend the game conversing with / negotiating with demons.

Thanks for the info.
The dungeon crawling with a story is intriguing. I'm still deciding whether or not to give this game a spin.

Sounds cool. BTW that Coosis box I bought works well when you put the screen ratio to 4:3 on an HDTV. I just checked out some more screens of this Vdigi in action if you follow the links to the actual product listing. You can see the diagonal scanlines. I get that with the Coosis box too but its only noticible either on black screens or when looking reeeeeeeeeeally hard.
But how can none of the GS editors know? Damnit, there was a press release. It makes them look really, really silly.
Get Lost Winds 2.
Not now. Later. I want to get the games on my list first!

The Rebirth games are like re-mixes, quite short too.
