I thought it was pretty good. It was fun for what it was.
Nintendo announced in their micro direct that the first weapon (NZapper 85), first stage (Port Mackerel), and Ranked Battles will be installed or unlocked today at 7 PM PDT.
Started Splatoon yesterday. Played about 2,5 hours so far, mostly online. It's great fun, but I don't like how there is no level dependent matchmaking whatsoever. Some of the higher level supers are insane. God, do I hate those Kraken. And then there's the matter of level not being linked to your actual skill. When I am level 3 and playing with level 15 and up's, I shouldn't be the one consistently scoring the highest amount of points. Why can't Nintendo make a balanced level system where you win or lose levels equally depending on how well you play?
They are doing that but that is under Ranked Battles.
Unranked modes just have a level system, Ranked Battles you are given a letter grade and you will drop below a C if you lose and raise above a C if you win. Everyone starts at C which is average.

That's nice to hear, but it sucks that I have to be level X to access that. There's little fun in being killed over and over by a huge kraken while I'm stuck with bombs and paint walls.
Yeah... It's a super overpowerd special for an already powerfull weapon. Regular rollers are ok, because while they can cover a lot of ground in ink quickly, they're also easy to dispatch. This one seems to have a larger 'range' when throwing paint, a usefull sub and an overpowered super. Seriously, you become a fast, near invinsible squid that can swim at high speed through any type of paint and leaves a trace of paint as you swim by. Most overpowered weapon set I've seen so far. I hope Nintendo has the balls to step in and nerf it somewhat.
Also not a big fan of the 2 new stages. I can't seem to wrap my head around the mall one, I have absolutely no idea how to tackle it. And the other one is a roller's wet dream. Large straight lanes with a lot of obstacles obscuring your view.
Yeah, it's a good gun and the radar thing is very usefull as well. Seems to me that a lot of the guns are very samey though.

I only had a Splatted three times in single player once against the guys that do the ink strike, once against the mechanical fish boss, and once against the finale boss.

I would hope that before that moment you would repeatedly shout out, "You're a kid, you're a squid, you're kid, you're squid......." and then "SPLATOON!!!". You might want to finish on "You're a squid now!" though just to make it a little less weird.
Marie looks creeped out because my Inkling was just staring at them.
