I have a friend that could not say "Karnov" alone. Everytime he spoke of him or the game it would have to be "Karnov the mother-fucking, fire-breathing Russian."

Every. Single. Time.

LOL

Yep. AKA Fighter's History. It was one of DataEast's last attempts to stay relevent with a fighting game.

Data East was a part of Capcom, right?  Like Ultra was a part of Konami.

Oh I wouldn't mind seeing Konami take a shot with the TwinBee (Stinger) franchise again. It was a damned solid Cute 'em Up, and if nothing else that series created the best Sonic the Hedgehog clone ever with Pop'n TwinBee.

Games were so cool back then the game companies had fake super hero name versions of their games too.

No I don't think so. DataEast was its own company. They may even be older than Capcom. They go back to at least Burger Time after all.

Nintendo was stupid even back then.  "You can only have so many games produced under one label."

Oh god I forgot about this entirely. DataEast technically made the first fighting game ever. Karate Champ.

Oh damn Parodius. Great idea. It couldn't cost much to make a decent looking shoot em' up these days right? Put it on the digital stores and make money silly game developers. And give it a new name. Parodius: The Epic Dudebro Adventure!

Holy shit the real name of Bad Dudes is Bad Dudes vs. DragonNinja!

I was looking at the Data East wiki, they lasted till 2003, wow. They made Heavy Barrel, would totaly be another Gears cover shooter.

Wrong.

Karate Champ (arcade) = 1984

Froggo Karate (Atari 2600) = 1982

Yeah they were independent and their first game was in 1978 two years after they were founded.

Refresh my memory Leo. What is this? I remember that fat guy dove across the screen, but I don't remember much more than that about the game.
