This is a tough one, but I'm going to pick the game that wasn't nominated. And even if it was nobody would've voted for it.

But THIS is my favorite game of the decade:

No One Lives Forever 2

Second favorite game of the decade is also another one that will never get nominated nor will it get any votes:

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

What a range of games. So far we have one pick for Zelda MM (thanks Iga for reminding me), Zelda TP, RE4, DQ8, Half-Life 2 (I believe Punk said its his favorite game), Killer 7, No One Lives Forever and Super Mario Sunshine.  Can we get any more diverse, keep them coming.

I probably would have gone wiith Dragon Quest VIII if I could have just picked one game.  I had such a good time playing it that it's the only game of that length (40+ hours) that I immediately started to replay after completing it.  Kingdom Hearts and RE4 would have also been acceptible winners as well in my eyes.

It's easy to forget how monumentally risky DQ8 was, after years of DQ barely chaning at all (dragging their SNES engine onto the PS1 -- or at least it seemed).

It was such an acheivement.

That's an interesting choice. What do you like about it, the presentation, the narrative?

Fantastic game, one of the best JRPGs I have ever played.

The music and monster design in DQ games are my favorite parts.

DQ games have always been great. But the grinding does require a lot of patience.

It does wear down on you after the 50th hour. And I think more than half of that is dedicated to just grinding, which can get tiring. But it's still rewarding.

I love DQVIII, probably my favorite JRPG of the decade...but I couldn't choose it as my favorite because there were still some negative personal opinions I have for it, and the long drawn-out grinding is a big part of that.

@Aspro

Do you have a decent gaming PC? I'm sure NOLF2 has sensible PC requirements.

Oops.

I played a NOLF game on the PS2, not sure if it was the first or second but it was good.

The first was a critical hit, but the 2nd was a HUGE improvement.

Also, the first one feels really dated now but the 2nd one still holds up really well.

You crazy? I would've voted for that shit. NOLF 2 is rad. AVP 2 (by the same team), is also fan-bloody-tastic.

Aspro, if your computer is at all recent, you'd have no problems playing it.

Two more picks for me:

Well...not the HD version, but you get the idea.

Alright.  My two 10/10s in the last decade,

Meteos

@aspro mix of story, presentation, and control, there was somethings that i really didn't think people should get away with in videogames that was pushed to the limit, from bosses to characters and then the ending and everything the game really opened my eyes

my personal choice is probably Twilight Princess.  Zelda is my favourite template for a game, and Twilight Princess does it to near perfection.

That came out of left field. I never knew you felt this strongly about that game.

Personal choice, not sure, I like Phoenix Wright a lot.

It would probably be Galaxy or Twilight Princes, maybe Majora.

Yeah, but I don't like playing action games on PC.

Does that include first person shooters?
