It wasn't COD that started it -- it was EA and THQ that started the online-code business.

But they seem to be pushing it to the limit which is pay to get important services. The online code thing is more about battling used games not about making extra money from online.
I was just thinking about this, because Nintendo is tomorrow if any of these third party companies have new Cafe games they cant show it cause Nintendo's show is last. That kind of sucks for them. I assume the system is so far off that the publishers don't mind.
