My son is pretty obsessed with this app. He occasionally takes tours of places like the White House or the shrines in Japan, but ultimately he just puts in our own address and then follows the map to his school or to McDonalds or places he's been a million times. That seems to make him pretty happy though, so more power to him.
One thing I noticed in the White House is that on the touch screen there is a 1 and 2 icon. You can go up or downstairs, pretty cool. There are some places I saw on vacation but never got the chance to go inside, on this app if you're lucky there are inside tours of these places. Very cool.
I did the same as your son and located all my local places or past local places. It's weird but very fun.
Here is another location, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal
the Taj Mahal.
It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.
This is my own pic.
But you cannot search for and find it which makes it tricky so follow these instructions.
- Go to the world map, zoom in on India.
- Find Delhi in the northern middle section. Below and to the right slightly is the city of Agra, you may have to zoom in or out for the word Agra to be on the map.
- Hover the cursor over Agra and the Taj Mahal should appear.
There are two viewing points, usually they put you at the side of the Taj, you wont be able to see the dome from here but you can get a good view of the Mosque built for the workers who made the Taj. If you look at the map view you can see the gardens below the Taj. If you fiddle about there is another viewing location there in the top 3rd of the garden, it's sort of hidden (see what I mean about this app almost being a game?)
Nice photo GG.
So this is basically Street View, except it goes beyond streets?

Yeah it has mostly street based views, some coverage is better than others. Europe and America seem best mapped. Shame about the lack of China and India coverage. I havent checked out Australia yet but the map indicates it's mostly covered. But the good stuff is that it gives you tour hotspots and inside shops, museums, famous landmarks. But the word search isnt always accurate and you can search for and be rewarded with something you've dug down for. Like a game where you go into a cave and come out with some treasure. It has a world map and top down satellite views so you feel like a spy sometimes, some locations have a really detailed isometric satellite view.
So if I use this can I spy on aspro while he kills snakes with shotguns, in underwear and drinking beer?

It's not real time though. Most pics are from between 2008-2012, and it's mostly street views, so you will be able to see a field from the street but usually you can't sit the camera in the middle of the field.
Yeah this is pretty cool app I must admit, been using it a bit. Bonus GG fact it comes with gyros???? I'm hungry!!!! Oh you must gyroscope LOL

Cool.
Okay here are some Tour Instructions for Florence to see some cool stuff.
1. Hit the tour tab, select Florence.
You'll be sat right outside the Duomo (church) at the heart of the city. This huge white structure was in Assasins Creed 2. I have been inside. Inside it's strange because it seems smaller than outside but then you look up and see people looking like ants walking up the rafters right at the top. You'l remember this section in AC2 when you went right up there to the top. I think whomever had the conception for AC2 had just come back from an epic Italian trip.
2. Hit the map and head directly south.
You will spot a square (Piazza) Della Signoria. In this square you cannot have free movement so you will have to dive in and out of the map to reposition yourself. Here you will see Neptunes fountain, the statue of David, Hercules labours as well as a kick ass bronze statue of Perseus and the Medusa.
3. Hit the map, head south to the river. On the left is a ridge called Ponte Vecchio
It was a famous street initially housing butchers shops, it was also in Assasins Creed 2, notice the famous statue on it?
Check Wikipedia to search up the places I mentioned for more info.
HOLY SHIT, ROFL
I've seen some of these shops before but not all of them.
So this is Iwata in his Iwata Asks on Wii U Street. This is the tech men walk around in on pedestrian roads to grab images.
These are the shops:
This app is free on the eshop. I've been using it for days and there's tons of fun to be had. What makes it great is the dual screen use and the gyros and u pad screen sync. You can probably get the same features on ipad, try it.
It's great for sharing special or everyday places you've been. So far it covers America, Europe and Australia as well as many selected locations and landmarks from elsewhere in the world.
There's a tour mode with near 70 hotspots from around the world like Vegas and New York. Many cities are mapped in full.
So here is my first location for you to check out, search for: Juliets house, Verona.
You will see the house and courtyard of Juliet, the real life lady Shakespeare based his play on. Note the statue, you were supposed to touch her boob for luck in love. Look up and see the famous balcony. You see the metal grating in front of the shop? It's usually covered in lovers padlocks. Go into the tunnel and note how the lovers have covered everything with disgusting graffiti.
