What was funny about those games was listening to the Castlevania director constantly bash the N64 Castlevania games that were developed by a different team, then watching his games get WORSE reviews than the N64 Castlevania games.
Metal gear Solid 4. After the majestic MGS3, which was a tough act to follow, 4 was just disappointment except for one place.

I know of what you speak.

How so exactly?
I'll certainly throw in Metal Gear 4, that game was a disaster. From the insane nonsense story, to the 10 hours of cutscenes that were longer than the game, to the crappy controls, to the crappy everything. I fucking hate that game so much. Everytime I think about that game it makes me so made I fart.
Instead of making a new thread I have a new question.
Any games which were experimental with a franchise and has a ton of flaws but there is still some measure of value in them?
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers comes to mind
My review there^. I am probably kinder on harshly criticised games, usually end up at least 0.5 scoring higher.
Here's what I said in the comments section:
"I did hit a wall like Leo, if you remember when he hated it. You can see that in the thread.
I was like, why did they do this? Why didn't they do this? Why does it control like this? This sequence is pointless, this one is annoying.
Once you can get past the little strange and annoying things and start experimenting, you have a fun experience. Other than its production the actual gameplay and controls aren't polished though. "

It had poor boss fights, bad writing (even for a Kojima game), atrocious, cringe-inducing moments and a mindfuck of an ending.

This is not the general consensus though right?
Not the general "professional" consensus anyways. The people who are lovedrunk on kojimas tiny cock think this is a perfect "game" the same people who would never give a bad score to GTA, COD, AC game etc. I doubt most of them even finished the game before reviewing it. There is no way, it is such a mess.

What about with gamers then, MGS fans? Are you two atypical or was there a lot of disgruntlement with the game in the broader community.
No definetley atypical, most fans love this game. It just baffles me but they do. I used to be a big fan myself before this game, maybe thats why it ruffles my testes so much. Certainly try the game for yourself to see if you are interested, you might really like like it. I mean different strokes I guess.

Me?
I played MGS1 twice, both versions. Could not enjoy MGS2 past an hour. Could not even get through the demo of MGS3. This series is like an amazing looking unaproachable looking woman at a fancy ass bar. I will not even go there.

This again... so again you believe its more logical that people actively lied to themselves while playing the game, that they secretly hated it but won't admit it due to some strange fandom to the game developer. Rather than it being people with different opinions?
^There are lots of people like this, but not all. So again my point is that its hard to find an honest opinion amongst stupid reviewers and raving fanboys--- especially stupid raving fanboy reviewers!
Can people objectivley like the game cause they have a different opinion?
Yup.
Not many from what I have seen though.
Especially not on the internet.
A "difference of opinion" does not mean an unbiased or objective opinion.
JEEBUS. CRAP. CHRIST-ALL MIGHTY! I AM GOING TO THE STORE. I AM BUYING THE FRAKKIN' GAME --AND-- (AS A GENERALLY UNENTHUSED RE PLAYER) I WILL GIVE AN OPINION ON IT LATER ! ! !

If that is how you feel. There are extreme cases but for the most part people are just being people, we all have our opinions. I dont know how you can be the judge of who is unbiased or not unless it is painfully obvious.
Okay in spin off terms, Wii got a lot of shitty spin offs.
First up, Soul Calibur Legends, second up, Castlevania Judgement
