Superman: Unbound (2013) Movie Review
"Directed by James Tucker who has taken over producing credits for the DC Animated Universe films from Bruce Timm, “Unbound” is a great story that is coupled with some pretty good action set pieces and an emotional core you don’t usually find in these sort of affairs."

You'll dig the Asgard arc near the end of season 1. Overall I'd say Wolverine and the X-Men is better as it's more consistent and the characters gel better. Avengers season 2 is more.... messy.
All I am going to be doing with Xmen is comparing it to the old cartoon and comics. The way I see it the cartoons job is to adapt the comics as well as they can and that is what the best shows did, X-Men, Spider-Man, Batman all adapted right from the comics. This show seems to have made its own history, I understand its so they can create their own character archs and maybe that leads to a better written show but they aren't exactly adapting the comics. I know they will push the show story to comic book moments buts not how the older shows did it. But yeah of couse the X-Men are better, they are the X-Men, they are a million times more interesting than the Avengers.
As for Avengers, I dont give a crap about them so any story is new to me. So it makes it much easier for me to follow without being all "well thats not how it should be"

Big Hero 6 is a big fucking deal. Great comic. Pretty much was Marvel's tribute Japanese super hero manga. Turned out very well but it had a real small audience. I really hope this turns out well.

Donnie Yen And Wilson Yip Leave 'Ip Man 3'
Donnie Yen and director Wilson Yip have reportedly left the upcoming 'Ip Man 3'. According to a Hong Kong magazine, Yip was unhappy with the project's lack of funding so producer Raymond Wong has chosen to replace him with his son, Edmond. Yen has left in support of his friend.
'Flying Swords' & 'True Legend' On US DVD
Indomina have announced the US DVD release of a double feature including 'Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate' and 'True Legend' for the 17th June, 2013. Although they aren't directly connected, both films are hugely enjoyable martial arts epics that are helmed by true masters of their art.
'The Iceman Cometh' Gets Chopped In Two
Donnie Yen’s upcoming redux of the Clarence Ford classic 'The Iceman Cometh' is now going to be split into two separate movies. Although fans are unlikely to complain about getting double the Donnie, the decision was made after the production went way over its anticipated budget.
'Journey To The West' On HK DVD And Blu-Ray
Comedy superstar Stephen Chow's 'Journey To The West: Conquering The Demons' is now available to own on HK DVD and Blu-Ray. Co-directed by Chow and Derek Kwok, the film is an original chapter in the saga that follows the Monkey King as he attempts to subdue a demonic hog.
Now on Blu-ray: THE WOLF CHILDREN, Hong Kong Release
We are big fans of anime writer/director Hosoda Mamoru here and for a good reason. After the man left Studio Ghibli following a big row with Miyazaki Hayao over creative differences, his output has been consistently fantastic. The three films he has made since then have all been instant classics, earning him critical and audience acclaim, as well as awards and money by the bucket-load.
The latest of these films is The Wolf Children, and I was lucky enough to catch it theatrically at the Imagine Festival in Amsterdam this year. Its story concerns Hana, a student who falls in love with a werewolf. She gets two children, but when the werewolf dies Hana is left to raise the children herself. She then moves to the remote countryside and tries to give them a chance to grow up and make the choice for themselves: to be human, or wolf.
I loved the film and consider it to be one of the most honest portrayals on the hardships of parenthood. I would have reviewed it too, but my opinion was pretty much the same as the
voiced in Hugo Ozman's review last year, so I decided against it. Quoting Hugo: "Wolf Children establishes Mamoru Hosoda as a master animator and storyteller in his own right." I agree. And while I hoped as much after watching Summer Wars, it's damn nice to see it actually happen.
Then, the wait was on for an English-friendly home release. The Japanese Blu-ray from a few months back was stunning and full of extras, but alas, it had no English subtitles. But now, Hong Kong-based Neovision has released a Blu-ray with good English subtitles, and I quickly got my grubby paws (pun intended) on one. So how good is it? Well, pretty good if you don't mind it being completely bereft of extras.
The Hong Kong Blu-ray of The Wolf Children is locked for use in region A only, meaning the USA and select parts of Asia (like Japan and Hong Kong).
As mentioned, the disc is completely barebones, unlike the Japanese edition, but it does feature excellent English subtitles as well as Traditional Chinese ones.
First shot from X-Men Days of Future Past. Wolverine in the past. I have no clue why Beast is human again. Seems like Wolverine will be the time traveler which is fine by me as he is the star.
How awesome is NYC where you can see Spider-Man hoping around the street one day... with film crews filming of course.
Yuen Woo Ping To Direct ZU WARRIORS In 3D For Tsui Hark
It's Yuen Woo Ping this week here at Twitch. Only yesterday we heard news the prolific director and veteran stunt coordinator would direct the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and not to be outdone, Hong Kong filmmaker Tsui Hark today announced him as the director for a new Zu Warriors movie.
Titled Zu Warriors: Dawn Of Darkness, the $35m fantasy epic will be the third entry in Tsui Hark's Zu Warriors series. The film will be shot in stereoscopic 3D with the view to there also being an IMAX release. Cast have yet to be announced.
Shooting will begin late July in Beijing.
Michelle Yeoh, Donnie Yen Set For CROUCHING TIGER II, Yuen Woo Ping To Direct
Where there's a will there's The Weinsteins. So goes the old Chinese saying. And their iron will has proven unstoppable once again, with The Weinstein Company powering along in its plans to follow up its 2000 international smash hit Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon with a sequel.
Based on the same source material, Wang Du Lu's Crane-Iron Pentalogy, the movie will adapt the fifth book Iron Knight, Silver Vase - with the new title announced as The Green Destiny, the name of the sword from the first movie.
Veteran martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo Ping, who designed the epic fight scenes in the first movie, will direct.
We also have the first confirmation of cast, with Michelle Yeoh set to reprise her role as Yu Shu Lien, and period martial arts stalwart Donnie Yen also cast as Silent Wolf.
As reported earlier by Twitch, Forbidden Kingdom writer John Fusco has penned the script. He was previously quoted as describing the film thus: "This introduces a new generation of star-crossed lovers, and a new series of antagonists in a battle of good and evil. It has a Knights Errant quality. There is an alternate universe in the books, a martial forest that exists alongside the real world, full of wandering sword fighters, medicine men, defrocked priests, poets, sorcerers and Shaolin renegades."
True to their showbiz form, the Weinsteins plan to hold a big press bash at Cannes this weekend to reveal further details about the film, which is set to film in March 2014.
"Carrie" 2013:
Wow. Okay, the film has a lot of potential. It appears to be very similar to the book. I just hope they don't go too over-the-top with the special effects, or change the story too much. That teaser poster creeps me the fuck out!
Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox first trailer
Earth's Mightiest heroes was made before the movie. With Marvel animation I find they try and reflect the look and characterisation of the movies. So the comics inspire the movies and then that affects the animated shows. Avengers starts out wit individual episodes focused on the separate characters, it only really becomes good when they form the avengers and start some of the multi-episode arcs. Try and make sure you watch them in series order otherwise it's pointless. The Hulk does leave the Avengers eventually - season 2.
Wolverine and the X-Men is very good. It sort of retells in a different way, the Phoenix story and has echoes of Days of Future Past etc. The basic premise is that there was an event that basically destroyed the Mansion, the X-Men split up and all left, Wolverine came back to bring them back together, Prof X is.... well that would be a spoiler, Jean is missing, Cyclops is basically a broken man and they are fighting to change future events. Bishop shows up too. It's a good show, but it was cancelled after one season. Definitely worth watching, very sad they didn't get to continue with the Age of Apocalypse.
