Now to prioritize, I MUST upgrade my shield. I lost two in the woods and dungeon! That's my mission for tonight.
Right now, I'm enjoying this one slightly more than TP because of the controls and characters in Skyloft. The camera seems slightly better as well. Can't wait for those sidequests you guys are talking about!
You know the first dungeon would be a whole lot better if they did not show all the puzzles and their solution on the E3 demo. Fuck the next Zelda I will try to go in a total blackout mode.
Just got to the 2nd dungeon, all the stuff you do before that is pretty damn cool. Its not exactly dungeon like but its pure gameplay. Constant puzzles, enemies and traversal situations. There is one awesome mini game as well where I became a degenerate gambler and lost a bunch of rupees. I still miss the exploring Hyrule, finding a new city, village, location feeling but this is pretty damn cool.
SPOILERS
The area uses bombs and I love rolling them around. They came up with some great bomb puzzles using hill inclines and having to roll your bomb to hit a spot at a ceratin angle. A not about so called fetch quests, if these guys call what you do before the second dungeon a fetch quest they are wrong. Having to find objects in areas you have not explored yet where it is all designed to solve puzzles to get the said items is not a fetch quest, its well designed gameplay. That part was probably my favorite.
Second dungeon was AWESOME!!! But it ended so quickly. So well designed and excellent use of items. But it lacks the amount of optional secrets, hidden chests and stuff that normally fills Zelda dungeons. Overall though it was better than TPs second dungeon. The score is 1-1 right now.
Is.
Zelda.
The town of Skyloft is second only to Clock Town in terms of charm, surprises and interesting characters. They are so fun to talk to. I spent an hour catching bugs. Well, attempting to catch bugs. It might be a while before I get to the second dungeon.

Go to Beedle's airshop and leave without buying anything. Or sleep in his bed until night. Try it!
Beat the 4th dungeon and the game has won me over. It started being really enjoyable someway into the third dungeon.
The game has impeccable design and there aren't a lot of games where you can say that. A lot of games rely on technology or graphics as well as being "epic", this game is just design, design, design, design, design, design, design, design, design.
So it's up there with my other design classics like SMG and the original Metroid Prime.
I do criticise the same mountain and water worlds, they just swapped out the creatures which is kinda lame. The game just works so well though and everything in the game works together as a whole. It's very impressive and already above Wind Waker. Whether it can beat Twilight Princess, that's yet to be seen and depends on how the rest of the game pans out.
Oh yeah and a dream came true, remember all those 70s Sinbad movie enemies? Fuck yeah.
Dvader said:The game sort of treats you like a little kid, I know its a Nintendo trait to really make sure the player never gets lost but man it just feels like I am playing a game not meant for someone my age at times. Zelda is for the whole family but it does not need to be this hand holding. I can see why this game doesn't seem relevant to my generation anymore and its not just cause its on a system with bad graphics, its cause this game feels like a kids game. I don't mean it in a sense that it needs blood and attitude, most Nintendo games pull off that Pixar kind of vibe where it fits for kids but doesn't insult adults, so far this game doesn't feel like that.
Trust me, later on there are some puzzles and things that will tax you. Not to the max but you will delight upon their completion.
Dvader said:I love how if you stab a pumpkin it gets stuck on the edge of your sword and you can throw it by swinging. So many awesome little touches.
The beetle item is boss, you can pick up bee hives and drop them on bad guys.
Bugs, are they just for selling or for anything else too? I haven't sold any yet as I'm wondering if I need them for anything else.

TPs second dungeon was the electric boots one? If so, I disagree!

I hated skyloft at first, now I love it.
I think it's the best, maybe followed by TPs town, then Clock Town, then windmill island.
Dvader said:WOW. This area before the third dungeon, incredible!
The desert?
You guys are paranoid about spoilers, I cannie remember just numbers captain.

Yeah, I spent the night with Beedle. I haven't walked out without buying though.

Ah, if only the Apsro quote wasn't a permanent tribute in my sig.

You can sell them to stitch in the Knight Academy during night time or you can use them to increase the potency of the potions. For instance you can upgrade the red potion twice.

Agreed Goron mines was awesome. It was a water/fire/phazon mines rolled into one. Plus the bow shoot out was awesome. The boss was lame though.

What the fuck are you smoking?! TPs towns were the weakest part of the game. They were empty and there was not much to do. Clock Town is the best town of all Zelda's followed by either Windfall or Skyloft (if the awesome sidequest keep up, I think Skyloft is going to overtake Windfall handidly) TPs towns are the worst.
I have not bothered with the next dungeon, I as too busy doing sidequests in Skyloft.
One mini-game took me a while (and ruppees) to succeed, but it was fun. I replayed by debts for breaking a chandelier. And Holy crap Batman, choices with consequences in my Zelda game. The end result was hilarious!
Also Peatrice the item girl >> Zelda.
Also you can Z-target NPCs and Fi will tell you their name and what they do! Fi you useless piece of hardware, why have you not told me that you can do that? Instead of repeating what someone else says but with an added percentage.
About my wiimotion plus problems. I had strange problems with my shiny gold remote. So I tried my normal wiimote with motionplus and it was night and day. Weapon selecting was much easier, my sword never had a height difference. When I hold it straight, Link holds his sword straight too. Not angled upwards or downwards. Flying was easier too. So it seems that my golden mote is busted . I do not have the best of luck with these motionplus things. First one breaks down when I buy Red Steel 2 and now my golden mote is fried. I will try it with Wii Sports Resort to confirm if it is broken, but it seems I will have to return the game and get a new one.
Well now I do.
