Two words for you.
Shadow, Dancer.
Holy crap...
Yes Fable 2 is every bit as fantastic a game as it's made out to be. I really loved it. Definitely can't wait for Fable III.
If you have a good DM, most D&D campaigns start that way.

Bad RPG, but still one of the best cinematics in a game.
Listen to Iced Earth and play Doom
What could possibly be so awesome about the start of Fable 2 that makes you say something like that?

WTF?
Oh Rag
Damnit, now if I buy Fable 2 late, I will be on this delayed train ride waiting to pick up Fable 3 whilst we get the first info on Fable 4.
Can't we pause the rollercoaster for a few years?
You know this reminds me of what this analyst Jesse Divinch said. He said that Nintendo generally released one iteration of a franchise every few years, which is why people just keep buying Mario Kart.
Dont new sequels potentially canabalise the long term sales of your existing game?
What about a price reduction and increased marketing, would that do anything?
In another words, I'm really loving Fable 2, which is a surprise because I hated the first one.
I just picked up Fable 2 the Platinum Hits edition. I thought, why not, it's cheap, has the DLCs, and I had the urge to buy a new game, so I bought it. And so far, I really like it! I only played the beginning of it, but like my thread title says, I mean every word: the beginning of Fable 2 is better than ALL the JRPGs I've played combined, including all the Final Fantasy games! What's the "almost" in the thread's title? Well, it's Chrono Cross, which is still my favorite RPG of all-time. That's the only one that still stands out more to me. But I will stand by my statement that Fable 2's beginning is more compelling, has more heart, more innovation, more originality, creativity, and soul than all the Final Fantasies put together.
I still have yet to play the whole game since I'm just at the part where I grew up. But that beginning was really special and well done. I love dogs and that part on how I befriend it really made me all warm and fuzzy inside. The emotional punch Molyneux was aiming for worked on me. Maybe it's because I love dogs and love the idea of games with a pet companion fighting alongside you. But no other game has done it better with this concept. It definitely hooked me now and I can't wait to see what's in store.
The game may falter on me as I keep playing it, but I still think that the beginning alone is awesome.
Great game for sure.
