Lately I've been talking a lot about Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. Tonight I've been drinking a lot (Southern Comfort and Coke for those of you keeping track), so I thought I'd share the real reason on why I enjoy it so much. It's not because it's just a good game (and it is) or because it has a good story.
The real reason is pretty simple. The original FFIV was arguably my favorite game of the 16 bit era. There are only 2 or 3 games that even come close when I think about it. FFIV: TAY was done entirely in the 16 bit style of both graphics and music. And when I play it now it's very easy to pretend that I'm 15 years old again and living in a world where my biggest responsibility was passing Algebra II, instead of being a husband and father with a mortgage, job, and lawn that constantly needs attention.
I suppose there's something to be said for a game that can pull you out of the real world and put you back in a fantasy world huh?
As someone with pretty much the same issues going on in my life now, except the lawn, I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I can't think of a game off the top of my head that transports me back to my yoot.
