Darthomer brought to our attention the new Activision game, Tony Hawk Ride, which includes a plastic skateboard that is "motion detecting".

So I was thinking about Activision's big games, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Call of Duty... two out of three will now have plasctic toys as pack-ins, so why not go for the trifecta and include a plastic gun with Call of Duty.

It's ironic to me that after putting the toy companies out of business the video games companies are now becoming toy companies (to an extent).

Anyhow, what do you think of the Ride peripheral, and why hasn't Assholevision brought out a lightgun game for the Wii?  Gun peripherals last generation was politically untouchable, but I think times have changed since then with the Wii making shooting once again an acceptable pastime for children and women. I think world at war on wii used the zapper.

I think that a skateboarding peripheral was inevitable once guitar hero and wii fit too off.

Its a nartural evolution to take something which is fairly easily replicated (the motion of a skateboard)

The problem will be how people react to more realistic yet less precise controls. I know gamers like HiResDes said in the past that they wanted the accuracy of the pad etc.

Hey you know what would be really cool? A wireless COD helmet with a visor that wirelessly relayed info between your Wii or PS3 and the headset. Or 360 with the add on.

My thoughts are that I didn't care about skateboarding games before, and I still won't now.

Canadians could use it for snowboarding games too.

Why not just use the Balance Board?

I wonder how it'll do. Tony Hawk has been on a downswing for a while. The skateboard fans might hate the controls - are there enough casual fans of the series to buy this? And only for one game? I'd be nervous if I was them.

Medal of honor had a lightgun type mode - maybe activision'll do that with COD.

I'm wondering how you can jump on this board and how well it will take that impact?

Well, the Wii Balance Board thing is holding up so far.

I'm waiting for the Guitar Hero Tony Hawk Pro Skater game.  Playing guitar on a skateboard.  Extreme. To. The. Maxxxx.

I read that the instructions tell you NOT to jump on the wii balance board?
