A few weeks ago, I got Prince of Persia and PGR4 as father day's gifts. I started working my way through PGR4 a couple weeks ago, because even though my initial impression was of staleness about the series, I thought the game at least deserved a fair chance.

I'm quite happy I gave it a chance. The game has a number of interesting additions that make working through it a more dynamic affair than the third installment. Career mode has a points system that slowly lets you to rank higher between four possible levels, each one with a good number of pilots from different countries. You can go through the season choosing which events you want to race, and getting frequent invitations to special challenges that unlock concept cars or high powered ones, as well as special "tickets" that let you race in events above your current rank.

AI is mischievous although not as refined as in Forza. It will still go out of its way to make your life miserable if you happen to ride a bike, though. The dynamic weather system is all kinds of amazing, with races that go from cloudy to heavy showers to light rain with the changes that such weather conditions inflict upon your car or bike handling and performance.

My faith in the arcade racing genre is renewed.

Stop playing that crap and get excitebots! Nyaa

I really loved PGR2, so I'm sure it's great, especially as it's not meant to have changed much.

I intended to buy PGR4 last summer, but the day I decided to buy it, my 360 got the dreaded RRoD. Sad I should look into getting it soon since it's under $20 now, and I loved the demo.

Hmm, the last PGR game I played was called Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast. WinkWink

I'm back, bitches! I hope to have some more pics today. In the meantime, this is me showing off in front of three angry dudes ready to ram their cars through my ass at Nürburgring.

I fall for this shit every time. I have so many stacks of driving sims that I've never played for more than 3 minutes.

The only racing games I've beaten where Gran Churiso 2 and Burnout 3.

But this looks pretty damn good. Is the handling forgiving? That's usually the problem for me in these games.

It depends on the car and track/weather conditions. Overall, most cars at the beginning are easy to handle, and since it's an arcade racer, the handling itself is pretty forgiving, unless you are driving an insanely powered car or bike through rain or snow. All races, whether it's arcade mode or season play offer a good selection of cars with accurate descriptors about their power and handling.
You wanna stick with cars and bikes with a mix of good grip and power until you know the tracks a bit better.

Don't worry about it, you just need to play one driving  sim and you have practically played them all. Oh and 3 minutes is the amount of time you can play a driving sim before slipping in a coma.

Heck that would probably explain Steel's behaviour lately. His post have dropped in quality lately. He is probably braindead from playing too much PGR4!

You see that Steel?! This is trolling. Gross exaggerations and personal insults

LOL

There can be no trolling if the receiving end is not bothered about it. Learn the way of Zen, young grasshopper.

Without a bothered person on the other side, a troll is just a madman, shouting at the ocean waves.

So you can race in motorbikes whilst others ride in cars? Dont the cars just bash you off the road?

Yeah. Bikes are generally faster and more maneuverable than cars, but they are painfully frail, and the bitch AI always tries to slam you to get you out of the road. Plus, cars usually have better top speeds so in tracks with long straightaways it kind of evens things up. The thing is to choose your ride while keeping in mind the kind of track you are going to get into, I wouldn't step into Nordscheleife with a bike.

Interesting. I would think that because of the frailty of bikes the game would be unwise to mix them up. It's not like mario kart where you have items to even things out.
