Use up 20 000 souls at the blacksmith to buy the thingmajik that opens the gate in the forest.  Through there is an area with 4-5 powerful opponents who will chase you and fall to their death landing you about 12 000 souls per run (you don't have to kill them so it's very quick).  Watch a youtube so you know exactly where to stand but it's basically right at the far corner under the steps just through the gate.

This is the best soul farming area in the entire game.

But seriously there is something odd going on if you still can't beat Capra at level 33.  You should be able to survive his first attack soon as you enter the gate, after that run to safety, heal and kill the damn dogs.  Capra on his own is a piece of cake as he telegraphs all his attacks a mile away.

I beat him finally a few days ago.

That was the most annoying boss in the game by far to this point. The fucking dogs block your path and corner you then your fucked and if you don't kill them fast enough you're fucked also. Its a pain because if you die you have a long ass trek from ANY save point. While I was soul farming on the bridge, I got bored and decided to shoot the dragon a few times. To my surprise, this caused his tail to fall off and I got an insanely badass sword out of it. That is when I finally beat Capra.

I also just beat the Gaping Dragon....easiest fight in the game. He LOOKS intimidating, but he's nothing. Easier than many Zelda boss fights.

Awesome game, its definitely a step up over Demon's Souls.

And thanks for the soul farming advice! That should help immensely.

The red dragon is quite hard to kill by arrows because he constantly heals himself, but you may cut off his tail to get the Drake sword which is immensely powerful at that stage in the game but like steel said to me ... be careful not to come to over-rely on it in the expense of leveling up the right attributes and learning to play the game properly.  In other words, don't use it for too long.

Gaping dragon is piss easy you are right.  Did you remember to cut-off his tail?

God, I miss this game.  Number II just hasn't grabbed me like this.  Maybe not yet

Yes, you get a great-axe when you cut-off his tail.  Which is also required for the knight's honor trophy

Don't worry about it.  Just go to the dude under the bell-tower and ask him to leave covenant.  Or go join another covenant

By the way you know that you don't have to actually join a covenant in order to get the trophy for it don't you?

Just follow through with the dialogue tree until the very last question when you have to answer YES or NO.  Even if you say no, the trophy still pings for discovering the covenant.

No I didn't. I got a trophy when I joined the Hunter's covenant, is that the one you mean or is there another one?

I went and re-joined the fat dude's covenant in firelink shrine so now I can farm again. lol

This game is great.

I'm now Level 58 and stuck in Blighttown...can't figure out how to progress. Made it to the bottom area but you step in the water and you get poisoned...the fuck? There seems to be another area on the other side too, but I can't see how to get over there. Tried going a few other places and got my ass kicked. Fuck.....where do I go?!

You should fight the spider, if you made your way all the way down blighttown to the posion floor stick to the walls and go right if you are staring out into the poison swap, to the left is a giant root of a tree (you can go there but it is optional). To the right you will find a bonfire and a short cut to the land of dragons, go ahead unlock those if you like. Your main goal is all the way to the right of the posion swap, it leads to an island that inclines into a hole, there will be big mud monster dudes around it. Go in the whole and kill the giant super boss. Good luck.

It's am easy boss provided you prep well to withstand fire damage.  Also the swamp has a lot of loot for you to find and also if you have any interest in pyromancy, it's where you enter the Chaos Servant covenant.  Do not kill any of the egg carriers.  Especially not that miserable egg carrying NPC who talks to you.  Don't kill him.

I'm using a warrior mostly just focused on weapon and shields, with bow use when needed.

My dex level is way too low...I focused so much on Strength, Endurance, and Vitality that my Dex is only like 17.

I was the opposite.  I built up DEX as I wanted to use a katana which scales nicely with it

I killed the egg guy in my way through the fake wall where the bonfire is, where you meet the spider chick. Is that bad?

I also killed the spider boss...fucker killed me the first time with some cheesy attack as I was going to heal. But the 2nd time I whooped some asshole.

So you finally reached the hard part of the game. Nyaa

Nah if you leveled up well the rest of the game shouldn't be that tough.

It's only bad if you wanted to get the pyromancies trophy (and platinum), though strictly speaking you need to play through the game at least two and a half times to do that so you can spare him and be nice to him next time

So what's the correct order to play through the levels?

It pains me to see my level was 58 when I left off on the PS3. Ugh...
