The Hitman series are much better ninja simulators than Splinter Cell and Metal Gear combined.

Okay, Portal is a game that I don't understand the appeal of. Honestly, if it wasn't given away as a freebie attached to Half Life, would anyone have bought it outright at full price at launch?

It looks so weird and confusing, it just puts me off.

The appeal is waning but it was originally very satisfying and made you feel like a ninja and super powerful as you picked people off. It was like a predator simulator, you were the lion and everybody else was just meat to be killed then eaten. Plus, in games usually speed and flash are used so it was refreshing to find a slow paced, yet tense and satisfying experience.

Of course not...it's 3 hours long. At a budget price it's great, though. I bought The Orange Box for $25 and was more than satisfied, despite the other games sucking balls. (PS3 TF2 is as bad as any Half-Life 2.)

What if Portal 1 was 10 hours but sold separatly brand new at full price. Pretend you haven't played it already.

Would it be the sort of thing you would buy?

Yes. But I'm a cheap bastard, and would only pay $40 for it. cheeky

You described Portal 2 and I bought that full price. So yes I would buy it.

You bought Portal 2 because you played Portal 1 for free with Half Life.

I think you would not have played Portal 1 if it was a brand new, full price standalone game.

If it got the buzz it did and it was 10 hours long yeah I would have gotten it. It wouldnt be a priority though, if other games I wanted came out at the same time I would put off portal.

Youe mean you would hobo it.

Like I said, full price new release? No one would have got it.

Wrong. See above.

(Technically I wouldn't have because I avoid buying everything at full price, but it would have been as high a priority as anything else.)

I paid $20 less for Portal 2 than I did Portal. Happy

From being a quirky game developed from an already existing idea (see Narbacular Drop), Portal and Portal 2 easily became the best thing to come out of Valve in a long-ass time.

Their first truly great game in 3 years.

Okay, Minecraft. Why?

I know f - all about it. It looks like it has blocky Doom 1 graphics and lots of black balls and some bricks.

WTF? Someone enlighten me.

It's the creation aspect of it I suppose. Combine that with a huge world, and the possibility to build a lot of stuff - plus, it's ALL dynamic, it leads to some interesting scenarios.

But I'm kinda with you on this one GG. It's the one game I know I'll never get into, but I LOVE hearing about it.

It's a construction game with sandbox elements, from the little I know of it. It gives you back as much as you're willing to put on it, and thus you can either hobo your way around or try and build majestic stuff while you survive at nights.

Basically it is a game for all the people that are too stupid to be engineers.

Engineers >> doctors

We build your tools, we build your equipment, heck we even model and simulate the human body.

Bow down to your engineering overlords.

Then the overlords bow down to doctors so they can get their assholes fixed. LOL

It's the circle of life, Elton!
