I like the final section with the Warthog. Yeah it's simple, but after all that's come before it it's incredibly epic!

EXCEPT for the lame control of the warthog, particularly when you are being timed and you are driving in an area that is restricted in space.  That was my experience on the first playthrough.  On the second it was better and on the third it was downright easy.  But I haev to say on the first play through I found the warthog finale to be frustrating.

Absolutely! I had the great advantage of having played that section at a friends house without really spoiling the story, so I was used to the controls without having ti ruined.

1. The wart hog is unconventional in that it's chassis consists of two parts that pivot in the center of the vehicle.  While making the vehicle more amenable to quick turns, this does make handling the vehicle more difficult until you are an experienced driver.

2. At the time of it's release (and to this day) using dual sticks to control a vehicle is very unusual in video gaming.  Ordinarily on the Dreamcast (and in XB games to follow)  you would pull the right trigger to accelerate and the left trigger to brake, while using the right stick to steer.  If you apply those controls to the Warthog you get no-where.  Should I have RTFM? Yes.  Should I have read the on-screen directions when the Wart hog is first introduced? Yes. Would it have been better had the adopted more standard driving conventions? Yes.

You asked, I answered.  Note that I got good at them over time.

The warthog controls sucked arse with the potato controller. They were better with the S I suppose, though.

One stick was just an accelerator.

That's my point.  Since when has any game ever used the stick as the accelerator?

That being said, once you understand that the vehicle controls just like Master Chief, it's all good.  Hey, Bungie were just a bunch of Mac programmers, they probably had never had to use console controllers before, I've cut them some slack and forgiven their ways.

The controls work, I don't know what else to say. Bombing around in that buggy was the most fun I've had in Halo. The way the thing bounced and had weight and heft. The mechanics were perfect for me.

I'd love to see a Halo: CE and Halo 2 HD collection come out like what was done for God of War 1 & 2 complete with achievements.

Yes! The only thing that sucks about these HDmakes, is they basically make my old copies I already paid full price for, worthless.
