Wow, that's the first I've heard of this. The only problem, and to be fair it wasn't really a problem, just a comparison to Goldeneye - it's levels were less circular and far longer than GE's levels, so they weren't as easy to replay.

Exhumed looks very Doom like. Do you guys remember the first Thief? Or Hexen?

Loved Perfect Dark. when it came out. Fun follow up to goldeneye.  All the programmable bots, the sci fi setting, small things like shooting out of the elevator and shattering the glass walls, all the crazy weapons. Good fun. And the first thief was great too. Loved that stealth gameplay and the setting.  There's never been enough green arrow type games.

Gregg Mayles: We wanted to push our own IP rather than do the next Bond game.  The core of the game was still Goldeneye but a lot of the crazier ideas were suggested almost as jokes -- like the laptop gun or being able to see through walls.  I don't think there was a masterplan. Banjo 2 originally had a counter-opreative mode -- somthing that PD borrowed.  The ghost was supposed to follow you around, zooming off to an enemy so a second player could control it.  There were all kinds of issues to fix, and testing time got the better of us.  But then PD came along.

George Andreas: Couldn't you control Elvis at one point?

Mark Betteredge: You could take the Game Boy Camera and put your own faces on the characters.

GM: ...there was concern about the backlash from players putting in photos of their teachers.

EDGE 219 Octobr 2010.

It was a day one purchase for me. I had to drive over an hour to pick it up.   I loved everything about it, from the secondary weapons to the hidden pieces of cheese.

Me neither.  I wished Rare had implemented some online MP with the updated version.

Actually me and my bro could never configure the settings for a PD multiplayer match.

How sad is that? We played tons of Goldeneye multiplayer.

The decision to pull that feature was Nintendo's (according to Rare).

Of course it was Nintendo. At that time they were squeaky clean! They didn't want some kid going to school and blowing away his teacher after practicing on Perfect Dark. Mario's image would have been tarnished forever! lol

The internet has thought of everything.

Someone find a picture of a hamster wearing a monocle.
