I like the game. I'm just not in love with it. I see it as a solid example of what the genre has to offer.

It's probably that I haven't played the last dozen or two Ass Creed games in the last year and a half --and-- I didn't bother with Batman Origins, but this game is scratching a big, old itch I didn't even realize I had!

The closest thing I've played to this lately is the squeaky clean Hyrule Warriors... going from that to this is QUITE the contrast!

That could be it. It's a perfectly fine game, of that much I'm certain even with only a couple hours played.

Listened to the first impressions I have heard of it so far today on Giantbomb. Sounds like something pretty original.

Reminded me in tone and content as Overlord.

Reposting my first impressions:

I started it, no music from the movies. I’m returning it. <img src=

But seriously this pisses me off, you have the movie license USE IT. I dont want to hear your crappy generic fake LOTR music, I want to hear the epic score while I play the game.

It plays like AC with Batman combat but controls not as well as either. Fake Aragorn is sluggish, his fake batman fighting feels a tad slower though it still gets the job done. There is stealth elements but it is all taken from AC and not Batman which means you just slowly sneak up behind people and stab them, or attack from above, or hide in bushes then stab.

Haven’t seen much of the nemesis system to really get a feel for it. Oh and obviously the game world is ugly. The best parts of AC is exploring beautiful locations, not the case here.

Its fine but I don’t see myself keeping this game.

Sounds rough. What version are you playing?

Maybe later cause I know you get to control enemies. But it is a shameless AC ripoff with batman combat  with the nemesis system added in. Which is cool but it's just tiny cutscenes in the middle of the game it seems.

The ironic thing is, now that I've played Hyrule Warriors, I --KNOW-- it is a game you would love --IMMENSELY-- despite it's simplistic gameplay. The amount of Fan Service in the game is downright staggering. It was practically made for you...

Just seeing Darunia, Sheik and Ruto in action is kinda mind bending. I guess it means more to me because I've finished Ocarina of Time relatively recently...

Everyone keeps on mentioning Assassin's Creed... Part of the reason I like this game more than everyone else --MUST-- be that I haven't played one in years. With so many released since I played, everyone else must be burned out by now. The Batman combat I --LOVE-- though too...

There's soooo much more to the Nemesis system than just mini-cutscenes. You grow discord in the ranks of Sauron's armies by pitting rivals against each other, assisting in assassination attempts and aiding Orcs under your control up the chain of command until they can get into a position to help you take out Warchiefs and such. It's very cool and intricate; just the number of variations of names and visual appearances of the Orcs is awesome alone!

Played some more today. Game’s starting to grow on me. I haven’t advanced the main story, but have had a lot of fun pissing off captains in strongholds, bursting in while riding a caragor and finding towers to uncover new areas (one of my favorite parts of the AC games). Also I like that the collectibles directly translate into in-game, useful rewards and that they’re not a bitch to find since they’re readily findable in the map, unlike AC’s fucking feathers. I also got killed by some motherfucker called whatever Ugly-Face. I have to exact revenge on him. But He’s Lv 11. I am slowly starting to understand the appeal of the nemesis system.

You’re next, motherfucker. You’re next.

In fairness to the game, it kind of stops being simplistic midway through the game. In the later levels when they throw a new situation at you the difference between winning a battle and losing it or making it to a goal came come down to seconds. If you don't know the right kind of attacks to use to get things done effeciently (faster vs. stronger, wide damage area vs. direct path). And even worse, if haven't taken the time to advance your skill trees, you're pretty screwed.

Oh, trust me, I know! I am quite familiar with the nuances of Dynasty Warriors games. The combat may be simplistic but the game itself gets to be not so simple as you go along... The Darunia fight, for example, had me going for over an hour, trying to defend, attack, take over the different outposts and protect my home base...

The action and attacks may be somewhat simplified and repetitive compared to current action games, but its the strategy and management behind the scenes that makes the DW series as unique and popular as it is...

If you go in expecting Devil May Cry or Bayonetta action, you're going to be disappointed. A lot of people don't know what they are getting into with these types of games and they never give them enough of a chance to see what they really are all about.

I tell you, I still don't know how I pulled off the final battle in the Skyward Sword world. I died and replayed that level half a dozen times before I just got lucky.

And sorry to jack the Mordor thread, but would you recommend the other Warriors game on the Wii U or is there a different one on the PS3 to take a look at? God knows it'll take a miracle for us to get Dragon Quest Warriors so I'm not going to wait for that one.

Best one right now!

There is a version of this game out on the Wii U now too, but for some reason, when they ported it from PS3 to U, there were a lot of technical issues...
