I never really got interested this year, it just felt not as important as in the past. Maybe I'm getting too old for this. Or maybe the industry has changed so much not for the better, that I'm losing interest? Sure the tech is nice, but it just does have that same loving feeling it used to have when I worked in the business. Its more and more about huge companies, profit, shareholders ECT ECT ECT. botton line Sad  The taste is a bit sour, my glasses are jade. I still love gaming, but my love for industry is fading. Not sure what this means for my future of gaming. I think maybe I have to find some other things to do that satisfy me. What are your thoughts on the state of gaming , industry and how you feel about gaming?

You might find that feeling of love in indie stuff.

I don't think I will ever get out of gaming, there are so many titles released that its near impossible to get bored. I would suggest you start trying some games you normally wouldn't to discover new things you would like.

It was easy to be cynical about this year's E3. Lots of "3's" around and a lot of respected series being taken into questionable areas (like Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect).

There was also a noticable absense of Japanese created games to get excited about.

Add in the uncertainty of the direction the hand-held market is heading, Microsoft's promotion of the Kinect and Nintendo's "not-quite-ready" presentation of the U and it was one of the more memorable (for all the wrong reasons) E3's yet.

E3 this year had the feeling of being a part of a large successful company that has no idea why it's successful.

I think most of us pretty much knew what to expect and that caused it to lose some of it's "magic".  We knew Nintendso was gonna focus on a new console and 3DS, we knew Microsoft would focus on Kinnect shit.   There was hardly any games announced that weren't leaked already.

This has been the most confusing E3 shows yet for me. And this comes from Nintendo's Wii U. I still don't know quite what to make of it. I saw a video where Iwata and Miyamoto were talking about the U controller, and at one point they both said it was optional, and people only had to use it if they wanted to. WTF? Does that mean I can use the Wii Remote/Nunchuck and/or Wii Classic Controller with any Wii U game instead of the touchscreen controller? That appears to be the case in a number of their demo videos where they show a guy playing NSMB Mii with a Wii Remote, and then switches to the U controller to keep playing. If the U controller is indeed optional, then do we have to buy one with the system? Could I get a cheaper Wii U console-only package, and bring my own Wii controllers to it? I've never been so confused by a video game product in my life!

It's not optional, you get one Wii U with all the new horsepower and one U controller, then you can reuse all your old Wii peripherals too, mostly for multiplayer. On some games, they will give you the option of just using the wii remote but it will vary per game.

Steel summed up how I felt watching the N conference with Wii U, I was like what? Wait.... how? Ahh, ok...... sort of.

It only sunk in later, there is a lot of cool stuff you can do with it and I do understand it now.
