Right, from everyone except the creator, who can republish but no one dares too after a level is modded since they get no explination as to what needs changing.

So I haven't been following LBP since my interest wont hold up, knowing I wont get to play it. Sad

Can you give me an overview of the levels and how it plays. I know there are two buttons? Grab and jump? And its all on physics from there? Is it more fun in multiplayer than single? Are levels designed around 4 players still playable and fun on single player and vice versa?

In the creation mode can you change the weight of certain objects and mess with the gravity?

Great questions.

The levels are themed a certain way, like take the jungle level. The level will have you hoping over fire pits, jumping on the backs of a parade of buffalo, grabbing onto giraffe heads that pull you up. Swing across gators that are trying to eat you. Each level will have some type of contraption or unique level design that is different from the last.

Yeah its all jumping and grabing. Grabing allows you to drag objects that are light, physics governs everything so if there is an object on top of something you can grab it will come down. There are switches, objects that act as keys, all sorts of devices you can control by grabbing.

Its more fun to play with others if you are not trying to go for a good run. When you play with others some will slow you down, some maybe too fast, some might not work well together.  So if you want to do a no death run play alone. And if you want to relax and explore again play alone. But its really a ton of fun when a whole group is jumping togethers, timing swings together. Also every level has an optional co-op section designed for more than one person. Those are the only sections where co-op is mandatory, so the rest can be played alone or with others. The design of the story mode fits for everyone.

Its the user levels that might not work well. You will find levels that are just to hard to work with more than one person. Plus I have only seen two or three user levels actually have balance with co-op sections built in. The majority of levels people can play together though.

In creation mode there is no changing weight, you have to use different material. No gravity options.

Oh, I didn't even think about story because the game looks so experimental. What is that about?

The story mode (single player can last forever with all the levels you can play) is very basic. Basically someone is stealing objects from the LBP world and its up to you to travel the world to find him.

The story mode is 25 main levels long and for one run it takes about 6 hours. But you wont find all the items or ace all the levels (not die once).

Oh I have a full LBP review up, you just have to find it where ever they are in this site.

i posted this on ggweekly but it's probably better here:

back from having played and watched about 3 hours worth of little big planet.  platformers being my favourite genre i was pretty certain i would enjoy this game and sure enough i did.  i played a few levels at the beginning but got bored with the tutorial nature of them (there is nothing much to the controls to take tutorial levels - you jump and you latch onto/pull items) so i asked my friend to move ahead to where he was at with the single player campaign ... so we played a few of the mexican levels (one where you have to rescue someone from prison, one with mine carts, another one with caves and rollercoaster type things etc).  It was all very enjoyable, while the platforming is nowhere near as precise or tight as a dedicated platformer (like a mario game) the puzzle elements complement for it rather nicely.  also the physics add quite a bit to it (everything feels heavy).  also thinking about the scope of the game (with levels being made by users daily) it makes for a rather amazing prospect.

one aspect of it which was far from amazing was online multiplayer.  at one point a message came up from another friend who has the game to join and play together.  we tried a few levels and it was some of the most laggy online i've ever experienced (and my experience is the wii and ds which is notorious for being laggy ... this was way way worse).  my sackboy would disappear and appear a couple of seconds later god knows where ... he would sink into the level, or into objects etc ... in a word it was a mess.  i'm inclined to think it was the connection but it really was unplayable.

overall ... if i had a ps3, i'd jump on this game with both hands.  as it is, i wouldn't buy a ps3 just to play this and MGS4 (though i previously toyed with the idea)

Yeah the network could be unstable. It depends on the night, who you play with, etc. Many times I have played with others lag free, but it could take work and time for that to happen.

Vader something i want to ask is about how the music works in the editor.  are you free to use your own mp3s and stuff or are you limited to whatever music is in the game?  that would make a huge difference to me.

another question.  how well is this game actually selling?  i'm getting the impression it's not quite yet the hit it deserves to be.  i have already seen it price-reduced on websites and it's only been out for a few weeks.  it deserves to sell phenomenally well.

I know that in the Uk charts it debuted at 4, the next week it dropped to something like 29 in the all format charts. Motorstorm 2, Disaster, Banjo and Mirrors Edge are doing even worse.

Only in game music.

It didnt sell that great,200k in the first week here. Only like 40k in Japan, Europe probably better. After a month I hope its a million sold worldwide.
