So I got Ring fit cause for the last few months I have just given up working out. I get home late, I don't find the time, and I hate it. So I'm out of shape and need something that will hold my attention so this was a perfect fit. I tried it for the first time today and wow it's a real workout!

so you do a little tutorial that explains posture and form is super important and tells you the controls then you are off to the RPG world. It has cutscenes, full voice acting and seems pretty deep. The levels basically have you jog in place to move (any running is my weakness) and while you do this you can use the ring to shoot air by squeezing it and suck in coins and stuff by pulling. So it's like an on rails shooter as you turn side to side shooting stuff to earn coins and exp while jogging. There is also jumping by aiming the ring down and squeezing and who knows what else. So that's just the standard navigation then comes the random battles.

this plays out like a normal RPG but instead of attack, magic and so on you pick exercises. So pick squats and you have to do like 13 squats in a row to do damage to the enemy. They attack you and you hold the ring against your chest to block. Then you pick another exercise and so on. Boss battles are much harder and take many more exercises. As the game goes on I believe the color coded exercise types will come into play on different enemy types. Of course you level up and gain more attack and HP allowing you to get further in the game. There is armor, gear, shops, it's an RPG. I finished the first world and am hooked.

So I did lots of squats, overhead squeezes, some yoga stances, leg crunches and got a great workout. Very sweaty, the IR sensor takes your HR and the game said I maybe am starting too strong and might need to lower the difficulty but I think I'm ok. I will keep you all updated, seems like it works and the game is fun enough.

This is definitely on my radar.  Because of a health issue I had a couple months back, I've changed my diet and added more exercises.  Did you see the resetera thread about a guy who lost weight using this for a month?  Pretty cool story, even if other things such as diet played a factor.

This is how Donald Trump thinks exercise works.

This is working, week 2 and what used to kill me is now a breeze. So I am increasing difficulty to keep up but I am feeling better each day. The game is a lot of fun, in true Nintendo fashion it keeps adding cool new mini games and level styles to keep things interesting. I can now make smoothies for power ups and healing items. The levels are getting more complicated and interesting outside of the usual exercise to win RPG battles. This is all very well done.

This is on my radar as well. But I fear that like all exercise equipment it's a fleeting promise of a long term comitment to fitness -- people buy this stuff because of the dream, not the reality.

Also it's over $120 down here Nyaa

I'm thinking about it though and the ball and chain has also expressed interest.

Sounds like you've got plenty of exercise equipment.

Well aspro if you like a decent video game to encourage your keeping up with fitness this is the one. I still struggle with finding time to exercise, this has clearly been the most motivated I have been in a long time. Obviously it's right up my alley, this is totally a Nintendo game. Each world has a theme, each one gives some new skill (new routine to do) and all the RPG elements are decent enough to keep you pushing. There are also a bunch of mini games you can play at any time and they are worked into the story mode. It's just fun to keep advancing.

I picked this up today.  Seems fun so far, but can tell with my bad legs that the leg portion will be difficult.

I am terrible at running, legs get tired quick. But trust me just a few days and things get better unless it's something mechanical like a bad knee.

How about a hip replacement? Nyaa  Seriously, I'm not supposed to run since having the surgery.  I can walk as long as I want so maybe light jogging will be okay.

Well then that is different. You can adjust the difficulty but there will be leg only events during the game.

Can't you just skip them like they're leg day?

No, because in the story mode you jog (or walk) to your destination.

I am finishing up world 5 now, wow more RPG elements keep getting added. Travo how is it going? I have it set to 20 difficulty right now and play about 20 minutes (of in game time, it's more like 30-45 min) at a time.

I love it but it's been difficult finding time.  Between work and this graduate program that I've just begun, it's difficult.  I'm trying not to make excuses.  It sure is fun when I do play and I get quite a workout.  No excuses, I'm going to aim for at least four days a week

Is there anything you couldn't do with a hulahoop to this device?
