We need to play tonight!
The game is really sweet, way faster and deeper than the last one. Right away you notice how fast everything moves and how combos flow much more smoothly. Combos seem more complicated, this is really trying to be a serious fighter with all sorts of frame counts, damage counters, it's a bit much to me. My favorite thing about MK9 was that is felt like the old arcade games but with a great fighting system. I think high level play will be too hard for me as I suck with dial a combo.
Story mode is awesome, it's like watching a movie, it's no longer done with the in game models Using old animation, it's full on cutscenss.
Leo we will play tomorrow. The game seems very deep.
I am kind of afraid of how deep the combat seems. Cancels, delays, counters, huge dial a combos it’s great but personally part of why I don’t care much for SF is cause it’s such a hardcore 2D fighters. I will get online tonight but I fear I will be destroyed. I can’t do 10 hit combos, my fingers don’t work that way.
Leo can we suck together.
I think I'll give this a rent during the weekend. Sound complex but fun.

just curios, will you get to play with your old childhood friend?
Hmmm... going to have to practice more. I don't remember losing to you so much in 2011...

I had never used a lot of those characters either.
I like having someone who is evenly matched with me. I'm scared to go online without you.
I really only played as Ermac up to that point too. Of all the characters I tried, I liked Goro the most. Slow and strong usually isn't my style, but there's something about Goro... Probably the intimidation factor...

His combo is ridiculous.
While you were playing with the Invasion Boss I performed a Brutality on your Tower Challenge score...

Lol well I beat the one you sent me. I am loving these online stuff.
Did you see the Kung Jin is the first gay MK character, just a small line in the story, very subtle, cool. I did his story segment yesterday, he is a combo machine.
...and another Mortal Kombat fan is born!
I just showed my nephew his first MK. He loved it, of course. He's almost 16 now, so I can show him games I wouldn't have before...
I don't know if you caught it or not Vader: I was playing as (Mystic) Ermac, playing as (Mystic) Ermac, playing as (Mystic) Ermac...
I decided to try someone random in a match with you and it chose...
(Mystic) Ermac.

Before you begin click here and play this on the background.
MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!!!
MK has never been the best fighting game, nor the most innovative but I don’t think any fighting game franchise has created a level of fandom as MK has throughout the years. Mortal Kombat was the Call of Duty of the 16-bit days, the hype levels for each release was insane. It went through some dark years but the 2011 reboot was a masterpiece, a MK game that actually played like a quality fighter.
MKX builds on that with better faster fighting mechanics a new story mode, lots of online integration and loads of new modes.
Modes taken from Gaf:
Story mode:
A direct continuation of mortal kombat 9, but the timespan it crosses is 25 years in length.
There are periods that are directly after MK9,then there are periods that are five, ten, 15 and 20 years out.
A lot of the events take place 25 years after where we see older versions of the characters, like Johnny Cage.
Arcade ladder:
The Arcade Ladder (also called Arcade Mode) is a single player game mode in the form of a ladder of kombatants where the player must face up to reach the final boss.
Faction war:
Provides a persistent battle for supremacy across every platform Mortal Kombat X is coming to.
When players start the game they must choose a faction(Lin kui, black dragon, white lotus, special forces and the brotherhood of shadow).
Each week, players choose one of five factions to represent, and then participate in various challenges, such as winning a match without ducking, or performing a certain number of X-Ray attacks.
At the end of the week, the faction with the most points wins, and each participating member earns rewards such as faction-specific finishing moves.
Faction War is platform agnostic, so PC, PlayStation and Xbox owners all play together.
Test your luck:
The chosen character must spin a set number of slot-machine style reels (between three and seven) which will first determine their opponent, and then various added status effects, such as poison, armor, increased time, decreased time, or headlessness.
The opponent must then be defeated with the imposed handicaps and/or benefits.
Kustom kombat:
Kustom Kombat is similar to Test Your Luck, only instead of randomized modifiers, players get to select two of their own modifiers from a long list.
Test your might:
Test Your Might is a mini-game that first appeared in the original Mortal Kombat as an interlude between battles, similar to breaking.
The minigame consists of the player’s character standing above one of five blocks of increasing hardness, depending on how far the player has progressed in Test Your Might.
The player would have to hammer multiple buttons until the gauge next to their character passed a certain point, and then would have to press the Block button to strike.
Living towers:
Similar to challenge towers, but they are online only.
Living Towers is split into three tiers: Quick Tower, Daily Tower and Premier Tower. Quick Tower offers five challenges that revolve around a specific modifier.
Daily Tower resets every 24 hours. With eight challenges, Daily Tower offers a longer and harder experience, as well as bonus rewards, such as an experience point boost gain.
And finally, there’s the Premier Tower, which runs for a week before being reset. This 15 challenge tower is built around special events and offers the toughest Living Towers experience.
The krypt:
The Krypt is a special feature of the Mortal Kombat games series that made its debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
It also appears in Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and Mortal Kombat (2011).
It is where you use the Koins you collect as you play in order to purchase items such as concept art, videos, and even hidden Fatalities and new characters.
The krpt is played form a first person perspective in MKX in a maze like setting. Players will earn koins, which they can spend on unlockables (art, fatlaties etc).
Online:
The standard 1v1 is back in MKX. Players battle it out in matches consisting of two rounds.
King of the hill is also back in MKX , in this mode eight players join a room, two fight while the others watch, if you win you keep on fighting, if you lose you go in the back of the queue.
You can also choose to back one of the players fighting by betting on who’s going to win or cheering.
New to online is the quitality. When oponents rage quit their head explodes and you win the match.
There are rooms players can join, this is a good option for new comers as there are rooms dedicated to noobs.
Team battle (5v5) and survival mode return.
So what online team will you choose. I know everyone will be Lin Kuei, it wont even be fair. Oh and there is a reason why Scorpion is on the cover, cause he is so much better than Sub-Zero.
