Monster hunter - Ever played it?

Nope, never. Not having a PSP will do that to you. It looks sort of like Phantasy Star online. I'm sort of anticipating the Wii one but it has to have a decent single player component and not be pay to play either.
No, I haven't played any of those games. The Wii game does look interesting, though.
I'm checking my inventory now to see if I own any of them, but I know for sure I've not played any o fthe Monster Hunter series. it is so huge in Japan it is weird that the game has not translated here. Maybe most people thought it was a Pokemon rip-off type game?
I do have Monster Hunter for the PS2 and never tried it (I also have Monster Ranch and Monster Ranch EVO and never tried that series either).
No experience, but the Wii version intrigues me.

The game is kick ass! I've only played off line and don't know how the online works, but was wondering if any of you guys have ever played it and if you maybe still do?
If not I might be tempted to just right a review for it
