"Well it's better than nothing" that's the quote we got from Inafune today after he responded to the horrible reviews. Apparently we should be happy the game actually came out. After millions of donations this is the shit we get. Mighty NO.9 has to go down as the biggest scam in game history. I don't even want this shit but I paid for it so I'll play it. Maybe it's not horrible but the whole situation sucks.

Oh and apparently the Wii u version is a mess and crashes a lot.

He wasn't referring to Mighty No. 9 when he said that, he was talking about side-scrolling platformers in the same vein as Mega Man.

A few lines later this is made clear by him reiterating he's "not getting his 2D side-scrolling fill" and that his team "put everything into making this game."

Between the Mega Man similarities, the shooting action and the stylish-play/speed-run aspects it tries to incorporate, I thought this would still be up your alley but you sound as if you've made up your mind already.

That's just the way it was presented. The actual interview was very different than the way it was portrayed in the article; don't believe everything you read in a sensationalist's headline!

Inafune was always a fraud. The man rode "creator of megaman" myth for all it was worth, and a lot of the shit wrong with present day Capcom has much to do with some of the direction that company took because of Inafune.

Game is not bad at all, it’s basically mega man with a cool boost system in place. That said the level design is quite crap, already I have died plenty of times not because it’s a tough challenge that I can see but because it’s just some random trap and shit. In mega man you always know what’s coming and why you die, not the case here.

I like how he runs and guns just like Mega Man.

I like the rampaging Robot Master story-line.

I like the Achievements.

I like how the game acknowledges when you’re playing skillfully.

I like that Boosting has dual functions: (1) Crazy Mobility & (2) Sapping energy to enhance your abilities.

It’s not the most polished game, but it’s not a “5” game either. It’s a Mega Man clone; simple as that.

Reading the Tutorials, there’s also a bit of refinement to the controls which I haven’t even explored yet. Apparently, holding R2 modifies your basic moves into more advanced ones. Will see how that adds to game-play next time I play.

Maybe you don't remember the early Mega Man's but there were PLENTY of well-placed enemies and obstacles that were there solely to push you into spikes, obstacles, turrets and bottom-less pits. You just have to learn the levels, just like any other game of this type.

I love how, once you get to know the levels and how many shot it takes to dizzy your enemies, you start anticipating them, picking them off and dashing through them for 100% assimilation and the whole level becomes one, big, flowing rush!

But you see them there waiting for you to screw up. Here I have jumped down and without knowing fell where some giant drill is in a position where I have no way out so I die.

There were plenty of blind leaps of faith and tests of skill in the originals too... Falling down corridors filled with spikes, well placed bullets to push you off of platforms... Seriously, maybe you're so used to the old games, you feel as if you were always prompted and there were no surprises, but there was just as much trial and error in the originals. I'll admit, I've only finished Mighty No.1's stage and played a bit of 2's, but there was nothing out of the ordinary for a Mega Man game, or anything that seemed unfair yet...

The trial and error in Megaman 2 and the Megaman X games were a product of people rushing. It was no different than what makes OG Castlevania so "hard" to people. If you slow down a bit, look at what's ahead of you and work from there, no, there are at worst blips of sequences that can be considered a cheap gotcha death. The rest of the game is supremely fair, and actually one of the tightest designed games to this day.

This game is pretty damn good, I am starting to not understand the reviews. I get the frustration with development, they still royally fucked the whole thing up but this is a solid unique Mega Man clone. The dash mechanic is awesome and when you get into speed running and doing challenges the game comes alive. I think it was worth it.
