I'm looking for a MP3 player that has a lcd screen (not a pretty one), can take multiple drops a day and doesn't have any DRM bullshit. I drop it, rip it out of my ears by accident a fair bit as I wear it while I work.

All I listen to is podcasts and news on it, I put about 60 MB on it each day a couple of times a day then wipe it clean, so storage is not an issue.  I currently have a Sansa 512MB which worked well, but it is reaching the end of it's life.

Also, just a mp3 player question in general. Do any of them have a way to skip forward through a podcast other than holding down the fast forward button? It's a total bitch to be 30 minutes into a podcast then drop the MP3 player and have to fast forward through x 1.5 speed to get back to where you were.  Is this a limitation of all/ most MP3 players?

I have a 4GB Sansa e260 (expandable by another 4GB through the microSD card slot).  I can't say much about dropping it, but for fast forwarding you can select "Skip through song" then use the menu wheel to very quickly scroll through.  It's not as precise as I'd like, but it's definitely not slow.

Found a good match for me, only $30. Small enough to clip to clothing and no more trip-A bats.

The new iPhone has a 30 second skip-back button, but not forward and a bunch of people today where talking about that like it was Steve Jobs kidney, so I guess (amazingly) fast skip forward is not a standard feature with mp3 players.

The only limit I can see for the Fuze is the technical limitation of microSD which is currently 16GB.
