There was literally a company called Manga, they had a phase back then, they were big shit.
I think it may have been a UK distribution company that just localised movies under their manga label.
Basically, japanese animated movies from that period that were known for their violence, sexual nature and OTT situations and general weirdness. They were strangely intoxicating at the time for the young mind.
As a general rule I do not watch anime. I learned in college, whenever I was watching it I wasn't getting laid. When I stopped watching it, I got laid. Pretty simple really.
That being said, I think I remember liking Riding Bean and the Devil Hunter Yohko series. I don't know if they were Manga, but they were from around that time, so there ya go.
****Quick edit. I mispelled my first movie, Riding Bean, but it's corrected now.****
AKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRAAAAAA TEEEEETTTSSSSUOO KKKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAANNNNNNAAAAADAAAAAA *DONG*
Akira!--- Everyone know Akira right?
Princess Mononoke--- is really good too a great storyline
Ninja Scroll----- was godamn disturbing and hard to watch in a lot of parts
Vampire Hunter D----- is a classic, always kinda reminded me of a more crazy Castlevania
Neon Genesis Evangelion--- for the most insane storyline that you would have to be completely mad to grasp
Trigun---- (its a tv series but its a great one)
Haven't really watched anything else anime I think thats the gambit of my anime experience.
I forgot to include Akira because I already own it. It was awesome. Neon Genesis Evangelion, was it one movie or more? Did it have a series? What was it about? Was it one of those mech animes? I tended to avoid those.
Fist of the North Star was the shit, there is this scene where they poke fingers through someone's chest. My and my early 90s friend used to do that to each other for months after we saw it. It really hurt too LOL.
I'm trying to track down some decent shiz to watch. From what I remember:
What else do you remember that's good?
