The director of what many consider to be the greatest Star Wars movie died today. He lived a long life so its not tragic news. They say he fought George Lucas to keep the famous Han Solo final line in the movie, which was ad libed on the spot.

Is this the first major death of the Star Wars family?

First major death besides Alec Guiness.    Yeah, Empire is probably my favorite movie of all time....so sad news indeed.  I think the only other movie of his that I have seen is Robocop2.  I so wished he could've directed Jedi.

Of course, Guiness. Yes he would have done so much better with Jedi but I am sure Lucas wanted more control so he got some scrub director to do what he wanted.

You know Leslie Nielsen, he was 60 before he achieved fame.

He wasn't just funny, there was something about him that inspired a fatherly affection for the man. He just seemed like a nice guy.

Who do you think is next James Earl Jones because of his age, or George Lucas because of his Jabbaness?

Christoper Lee has to be next cause he is like 200 years old. But he might actually be Dracula so who knows.

Lucas got some years left in him. I am not sure how old Jones is but he must be up there.

Lucas I think will live longer because he has more money than God, so he has access to Cheney-doctors.

Surely Willow is next? I thought some little people had some long term health problems?

I met Billy Dee Williams at a convention last March and he looked bad. He's medicated up pretty hardcore and he barely looks like he knows where he is. Plus he's in his 70's.

Did you say to him:

"Did you get my coffee and chips? Pray I don't alter the deal further"

Sad But he's Billy Dee Williams, he can sweet talk Death into letting him live longer.
