Nothing matters until the internet is some global network where we can all get on with fast speeds, good connections and no data caps. This will be a good first step, streaming is the future whether we want it or not so I don’t blame them for trying to make a push. It’s about the games too so let’s see what they have.
I don’t care about the quality of the internet and the service, I just don’t want to play my games like this. There’s too many issues I have and gives consumers too little control over the product that they purchase.
It just seems so ill conceived. There were a lot of naysayers when Microsoft entered the console gaming business (I was not among them, I figured they came about it the right way and had people ernestly trying to acheive a meaningful goal). And maybe Google has done the same with hiring Jade Redmond, but she was hired at the last minute to head this thing. At Microsoft there were long term employees and leaders like Ed Fires and Seamus Blackley that basically forced Xbox on Gates and Ballmer.
Good luck to them, but to Australia and most places outside of Singapore and San Francisco, it's a non-starter in 2019. It'll go this way sometime, and likely with Microsoft, but Google has no gravitas to do anything in the gaming world at this stage.
If it works great it will be fine.
I hear even MS Cloud would require a 6mbps connection so I would be out either way.
I'm still trying to reconcile how to keep all the stuff you have downloaded in the past or even on switch. You get a massive SD card and several games like RE revelations fill it up as they are 23 gbs.
I technically own W101 and Lego Batman on Wii U. I can't fit it anywhere. What happens in the future when you own a game but the servers to download the updates for it no longer exist so you cannot play the damn game?
If anyone ever wondered if humans could actually find satisfaction in the utility of something, they need only look at (non-rural) Americans talking about the inadequacies of the internet.
One other thing.
Glasses, Fibre, Plus, Stadia. Other than gmail and Google itself, Google branding is horrendous. Utterly transparent, incestuous corporate committee gobbledegook. If Apple is a religion, Google is a cult.

So just use Xbox Live instead.
I only have three things to say about this.
Google Glasses.
Google Fibre.
Google Plus.
The companies with the best network infrastructure are Amazon and Microsoft. Both of them have a chance on delivering what Google is promising, only one of them has been involved in gaming since 2000.
