Anyone playing on PC.....this explains how to get a nice field of view setting at 90 so you can see your surroundings. Personally, I always change the field of view to 90 in 1st person games on the PC. So much better than the typical 75 or 80 they set it at.

Ah, good tip, thanks.
Can someone give me more info on building houses? I've built a wooden frame for one but that's it. Do I need to demolish other buildings before putting a new one up? Is the junk that I collect part of the building supplies?
I started last night but only made it out of the vault....fucked with the game files to fix my field of view and left off there. Plan on going at it hard later on. The world sure looks nice once you get outside though...
Now I've put some time in and yeah it's great, it's fallout. But damn if this is not just the same game in a new location. Animations are the same, they got the same exact licensed soundtrack, the same lockpick and hacking mini game. I guess gunplay is better, still nowhere close to a true shooter. Gun Modding is fantastic, I made a super fast firing sniper magnum, ridiculous. I like the inclusion of legendary weapons and enemies, found my first one today, they add some good perks. Settlement building is really complex and a great time sink but for what. I have fun with it for a while then get bored cause I run out of materials so fast.
I have yet to hit a major city or really be filled with quests. Most of my time has just been finding random new locations and killing stuff in them. The grabbing everything like a hobo. The game is still too easy on hard, may need to up it more.
So far this is the most boring wasteland. Other games had you in a major community early on and introduced you to a bunch of different types of characters with multiple quest lines. Here you need to build your own town and you talk to 4 people. I guess once I reach downtown I will really get sucked in but for now I am not liking this as much as NV or 3.
All that said this is by far the least glitchy Bethesda game ever. 11 hours in and not one glitch or freeze.
The soundtrack thing is baffling? Why is 90% of the music rehashed from previous games?

It's so damn lazy. Does Bethesda think there are no other 50s music to choose from?
I'm wondering if they made the game less demanding so as to give some wiggle room for mods on the console versions.

Maybe they took a cue from Nintendo?
Alright that FOV fix worked perfectly. No more claustrophobic madness.

Yep its a thing of beauty. I remember the first time I ever changed fov I was amazed at the difference. No idea why developers always set it so close.

Define less demanding.

Well graphically would be most apparent I guess.
I am getting my ass kicked left and right. Maybe I just suck. Go somewhere for a quest and BAM bunch of super mutants gangbang me. Oh it must be because I need to level up a bit more before trying that quest, I say. Let's try an easy quest first BAM get dry humped by a bunch of radscorpions. What am I doing wrong D:
I was on my way from Diamond City and came across a satelite dish place. It was an enjoyable challenge taking out all the people in the place, and plenty of ammo and weapons there as well. I took the fusion core that runs the place, is that all to do? I waas expecting some kind of Far Cry like tower moment.
Also, at teh start of the game, onec I power suit died I just abandoned it. Will there be others or do I ahve to track it down?
