Sloppy seconds? Eat my f******* ****? You guys are disgusting
That last pic reminds me of the snow levels in Halo 1. This game looks really good. Can you explain the story Edge?

I can do that.
Shoot shoot. Bang bang. ALIENS! OMG! KABLOOOIE!
End.
Seriously, though, it's the finest example of open ended gameplay. Story means shit when you have ball breaking gameplay and ass ripping visuals.

What he said.
Basically, the Koreans find Aliens laying dormant inside a mountain. You get sent in with a team of commando's with crazy powered suits, and fuck shit up. Typical Sci-fi, but its done in a great way.
Yeah the snowy parts are very Halo-ish...in a lot of ways this game kind of looks like what maybe Halo 3 SHOULD have looked like.

Well, I can't exactly complain about that.

Koreans? Why choose Korea? Do you play as a Korean? I don't know why but this game visually has never really excited me, neither did the first far cry game. It's weird, everything looked a little dull I suppose where as I'm attracted to like fantasy type stuff more. Like stormy clouds and a red sky, or blooming foilage and that sort of stuff. I like HL2's visuals over a lot of next-gen stuff which is all bump ridden. There is more colour etc.
How is the engine and what is Crysis doing that is so impressive? Are there any game loads or is the whole world seamless? Any pop up?
So yeah, I know its old news and it came out 2 years ago or whatever, but its new to me so eat my shit you fucking assholes.
This is the first game I've finished on my new PC, and goddamn its awesome. Incredibly awesome, in fact. Easily one of the best FPS's I've ever played, and possibly my favorite since Half-life 2. My only complaint is that the last level has some issues with freezing, apparently if you don't use the exact parts from the exact companies they wanted you to. Other than that, it played butter smooth.
First off, this is the best looking game I've ever played. And it came out in what? 2007? I ran this bad boy at maxed settings on my 42 inch Plasma screen, and awe filled the air. Explosions, animals running around realistically, trees swaying in the wind (and being blown to bits by my guns) and the most amazing water effects ever made. THIS was Far Cry 2, lets not fool ourselves. This game destroys FC2 in every possible way, not just graphically.
I also really enjoyed the story, and the pace to the game is just perfect. Always something great happening, and a new objective or two to get done. Unlike FC2, Crysis is a much more linear game and I couldn't be happier about that. Instead of wandering aimlessly and doing the same crap over and over again, Crysis gives you meaningful things to do, and you always feel like you're moving forward. Even though its linear, the world is huge and gives you the illusion of being open-world, as you can go about any task the way you want and often find different ways in getting there.
Another thing I love about it, is how natural the controls feel. I've never been a big PC gamer, and never thought I'd like using a KB/Mouse over a controller. Well, this game single-handidly changed my mind. The only way I can describe how I felt controlling Crysis, is that it was similar to how great Halo felt on the Xbox in 2001, just with a KB/Mouse instead of a pad. The way you can customize your guns attachments on the fly is awesome....I was switching between scopes and silencers like a !!!!ing commando. Also switching your suits powers with the click of a mouse wheel, just great. The best part though, is the aiming. I see now why people swear by kb/m controls over a pad for aiming, as the speed and accuracy I was getting could never be matched by a regular pad. The Wii controller being the exception when its used well, but even then it doesn't have the turn speeds. Of course, you can also use an Xbox pad on this game if you'd like, which is cool if you just wanna sit back and chill.
All in all, its just one of those shooters that does nearly everything right, and is fun all the way through. I challenge anyone to hop in a speedboat and lay waste to a valley of trees, and tell me that wasn't fucking killer. The best part is, I can now dive right into Crysis Warhead, err, head-on.
9.4 Edge rating.
