Well?

EDF 2017 on 360 is legendary. But before I get carried away, let's establish that this is a MULTIPLAYER GAME. Yes, it is possible to play it single player, but you won't have fun with it.  I'm not even sure you could play it multiplayer ONLINE and have any fun with it.  This is an on the couch multiplayer game.

In any case, the 360 exclusive EDF 2017 is incredible.  You attack oversized ants, spiders, space ships and robots in a kind of Godzilla movie kind of way.  You can bring down buildings with a single RPG.

The game started out as a par tof the Simple 2000 series on the PS2, which was essentially disposable games you could buy for nothing at convenience stores in Japan.  So it;s got street cred.

The most recent iteration wasn't developed by the same group (Sandlot), rather by some western crowd, but it is faithful in all the right ways, while straying in all the best ways.  That one is EDF: Insect Armageddon BTW.

So anyway, again, qualified recommendation. If you have someone who can play on a couch with you try either one. They both harken back to the Arai 2600 era in terms of their qualities.

Your enthusiasm about the series got me interested enough to buy Insect Armaggeddon a while ago, but I haven't played it yet

I remember Shame-us Blackley praising this game just before he went full time bitter politician. Coincidence?

EDF2017 is one of the best co-op experiences this gen. Insect Armageddon should be skipped by everyone at this point, and they should just wait for the upcoming EDF4.

It turned him into a militant bug and alien killer.

I like Insect Armageddon.  They get the silly and have added some improvements (like being able to revive your fallen comrades and better vehicle control).

I honestly have not looked at any of the newer EDF's coming out, I've lost track of them all -- like I have a vague feeling they have Vita, PSP and HD versions coming to the west?
