I got Skies on the GC. Very lengthy game. That version had extra quests. Any good ones?
I honestly can't remember.
i wanted that game but it started being over 30 quid on amazon so i gave up. same as baten kaitos
Did you play on DC? If you haven't even at 30 quid its well worth it. The game is like 45hrs long and not filler or boring stuff. Its easy to play too, no slogging through. There were a lot of random battles in the DC version but the cube game apparentely has that toned down.

So the Dreamcast controller is a filet mignon.
Agreed.
The 360 controller is a copy of the Dreamcast pad so if one sucks the other sucks too.
Both D-pads suck.
But DCs D-pad was still better IMO. Most dpads suck in general. The DS D-pads and wii remote pad are pretty finnicky on the diagonals. The 360 pad with the circle under it is terrible. The broken dpad of the Playstation is tough to work.
The SNES Dpad was good but so hard that if you played too often it could give you callouses.
Really? You thought the DC d-pads were better?
I don't know. I play a lot of fighters and from what I've played, the DC d-pad felt worse. The 360 d-pad feels more comfortable and I could pull off the moves better, like in Street Fighter IV.
On the DC, it was extremely uncomfortable. Also, pulling off the moves were too stiff and tough.
And I do agree the PS controllers have terrible D-pads. The worst, I say. Terrible with fighting games.
And as for Skies of Arcadia...I really wanted to love this game. And I did to some extent. But the constant random battles that lasted way too long for its own good drove me crazy. Even the weak enemies took 3 minutes to kill. I hated that part of the game. It was ALMOST one of my favorite JRPGs of all-time, but the horrible battle system killed it for me.

The circular pad under the 360 pad does it no favours. You can't get any kind of definition on directional movements.
LOL I just remembered the GC d-pad, which was tiny and unresponsive.
ASK, have you tried the GC version of SKies? I always wanted to get it but my policy of never buying a game I already own has stopped me. They toned that aspect of random battles down.

I was thinking about giving it another chance on the GC. But I passed on it. I went so far with the DC version, I didn't think I could give it another run.
I don't know about the battle system but I know the graphics were tuned up a bit. But I didn't pick it up.
