They made the announcement to close DPS (Denver Public Schools) yesterday and they closed five library branches yesterday as well. I was predicting they were going to make the call today and close the rest of the branches, and they did, so starting 3/16, we'll be closed until further notice. I know some may call this an overreaction, but if the kids will just stay home, that will slow the spread considerably.

Anything your cities are doing in preparation of/handling an outbreak?

All colleges around here are having online classes only.  School in some counties are closed but the one I work in is still open for now.

Any country where an outbreak originates from should immediately cease all air travel. Then the world should all help that country to sort it there. All these movies and organisations give us the impression that we can deal with this in the modern world fairly easily. This shows we are not prepared and never have been.

I'm afraid next school week will be our last, at least until April.  Fingers crossed that we can continue.

That's just not possible anymore in today's globalised world. If you quarantain a nation for a month or longer they'll suffer all kinds of shortages.  We'll just have to wait for it to pass or for a vaccin to be mass produced.

"Mass gatherings" of over 500 people will be banned after the prime minister has had one last chance to see his favourite ruggers team. Not that I can talk, I'm taking advantage of an art show on an island today as it's the only time there is a punt running back and forth, and the island itself is lit. Luckily there's more likely to be around 5 people there (including the staff on the punt and myself) than 500.

The grand prix was cancelled, but only after track activity started and people were queuing up to get into day one lol. Quite a few schools are voluntarily closing, but there is no state or nation-wide mandate that they must.

Oh, and Australia's stimulus package extends beyond bankers (but gives nothing to the people most likely to be fucked over by their work being affected).

So North Carolina is closing all schools for two weeks.  Will South Carolina be next?

They have no sea border.  Nyaa  I bolded 'shipped' but apparently it was not clear enough.

Anyhow, how are you going to import goods when your borders are closed?

Colorado has impossed a ban on gatherings of more than 50 people and Denver has ordered all dine-in restaurants closed.  To-go, deliveries and drive-thru only.  I JUST want to make it to Friday so I can pick up my Animal Crossing from Best Buy...

Nintendo should allow stores to sell it early. I'm sure most stores already have in stock.

Totally agree.  Have you guys read the Universal is putting its latest movies for rent on VOD this Friday? $20 a rental, but a family usually costs that much or more to go see something in the theater.

Well, I already have groceries, toilet paper, we await our children's school packets, which will be ready tomorrow.  The beer is bought.   My grad assignment for this weekend is finished already.  My time at work is limited to handing out school packets and lunches. We may as well talk about upcoming entertainment purchases since everything else is squared away.  Especially since the whole family has to hunker down in the house.

A big concern here is that a lot of school children will miss breakfast and lunch.  Starting on Wednesday, our district will start to hand out lunches in the car line.  Also, a lot of restaurants are offering free kids meals and no purchase necessary.  It's good to see a lot of folks doing their best to take care of kids.

We are heading toward full lock down. Restaurants will now be ordered to be take out only. This will get worse and eventually we will be restricted to being at home. Get ready.
