The first couple of Burnouts were hard. Harder even than TWW. They were focused arcade racing games and they simply weren't my thing---at least not if they weren't actually in an arcade. However Burnout Revenge was the first Burnout game I could stomach. It was still frustrating at times but it was fun and incredibly addictive.

Before.

and then came Burnout Paradise. It was a littleodd having an open world and to begin with it was a little unengaging and empty. Okay you could drive around and pick whatever races you wanted. Meh. And why on earth couldn't you restart?! But then I realised that if you lost a race you could just start another one near by and then for fifteen hours I was in paradise. Sure it still had its problems. The clipping detection was as inconsistent as it has always been (which is not very fun when you're on critical damage only have the 40th take down to go) and for some unexplainable reason Critereon decided to remove crash mode and after touch takedowns but it was still good, fast fun.

The after touch takedowns being removed was especially painful considering how beautiful the crashes were. If only you could guide the carcass of your car with metal and sparks flying into an opponent or at the very least be rewarded when you take out several of them after you crash! And it sounded great too. Never has twisting metal been used in such a positive way! I was impressed by the soundtrack at first too. It was big and long, but that was until I heard the classical music. They managed to find the worst recordings available, but the less said about that the better. Plus I'll never listen to that Guns 'n Roses song ever again. 50 times is more than enough. And Avril Lavigne? Why? When you can't see her she's entirely redundant.

But then I was sturck with the dreaded Burnout Boredom. After 15 hours I'd got sick of Revenge and after 15 hours I got sick of Paradise. But unlike Revenge I wanted to go back to Paradise and when i did I found myself addicted again! I started to explore the city and all of a sudden noticed that looking for billboards and shortcuts and super jumps was actually kinda fun and so was beating online times---especially Darth's, though that was always a little too easy.

So close yet so far.

And now 35 hours later I'm still going. I've only got the last license to go, but with only 1 road rage left I might be in trouble. Sure there's a few burning routes to do, but stunt runs? They should never have even been in the game to begin with! Ah well, if I can't do them, there'll still be online and bikes!

There's only one E in Heroin Foolz. Get rid of the one at the end.

And yes, this is truly a phenominal game. Easily the best game of 2008. Screw GTA and Metal Gear.

Of all the typos trust you to pick out that one! Grinning

Well, I've now played it for as long as GTA. But unlike GTA I want to keep playing! And I haven't even touched online yet! Epic.

Is the page loading weirdly? I'm getting quotes out of order and stuff.

What is the opening post? Someone questioning spelling?

Damnit.
