It's basically GG's design but with the tabs up the top. Seriously, the tabs HAVE to be up the top!

I don't look at all the news items. What I mainly do is search for the Nintendo news (since I don't own a 360 or PS3). So the kinds of news items I want to stay are things like today's "Wish Fulfillment: Zelda" and "Capcom Survey a Hoax?" The Zelda one gives me great ideas and lets me get all hyped up about the possibilities (I like that guy's ideas better than my own!). The survey one lets me know that Capcom may not actually be considering a Wii version of RE5 after all (it sure needs RE5, though). So whatever we do, I don't want stories like those to be excluded.

1. tabs to ggweekly and forum etc. They HAVE to be up the top for ease of access!
2. Ticker, durr.
3. Name, with our wonderful symbol. CWUTIDIDTHAR?
4. Articles, this gives us room for two, or one longer article that has two paragraphs which would give it the further feel of a newspaper.
5. If the article is too long then it can be "continued on page 2." click on it and it'll go to "page 2".
6. Room for links to more articles, or perhaps a comic! C'mon all newspapers worth their salt have comics.

I love the way you do your paper mock ups Yo.
I think that design though veers too close to website design and less of newspaper design. If we have reviews for instance as a newspaper we have to rate out of 5 stars. And we would have to have like a headline under the review. The tabs at the top are a good idea, but they look too tabby
They should blend in like that crappy mock up I did. The mailbox should be changed to the outline of an envelope that again, blends in to give a newspaper look, when you mouse over it, it can change color or something. The banner looks cool, but you have white space either side, so if we copy the Daily Planet look, we can have our worldly logo in the middle and sit the words either side to fill that space for a better look.
We need a space that updates the date every day as in: Friday the 15th August 2008
And make fake stuff to adorn the front to make it look more newspaperish. Like a price in cents, some copyright blurb, a static horizontal jpg of something which alludes to content we don't have like a traffic update, weather news, politics etc.

Hey guys. Yep, I'm still alive.
I don't have much time to read the entire "Future" Blog, but I'll say this:
What kind of "Theme" does IGN have? What kind of theme does GameSpot have? Kotaku?
Right. The most successful sites out there don't have a certain "look"...
GS has it's community. IGN has it's organization and exclusive reviews. Kotaku has it's up to the minute news.
If you want this site to be successful, the NUMBER ONE, MOST IMPORTANT thing that MUST be changed is ORGANIZATION.
It must be clean. It should be colorful to match the personalities of the people that post here. Above ALL, the primary focus MUST BE organizing things so people feel comfortable joining in conversations they have interest in, or FINDING things to talk about they are interested in.
GG said a few pages back that I don't come here all that often. That's NOT true at all. I check in on you guys practically daily. It's just that when there are 7 pages of discussion about anime I've never even heard of, it makes me feel like I am interrupting a PRIVATE conversation, NOT participating in an open, gaming forum, so 90% of the time, I don't even bother posting anything... And I KNOW you all! Imagine someone new coming here. They'd take one look at the off-topic discussion and be like: "WTF are they talking about?" and then leave. NOT GOOD. It's not condusive to a gaining members on a fledgling site!
Now, I am not saying there's anything wrong with WHAT you guys are talking about. That's what makes IC what it is. I am just saying it needs to be more structured, so people can join in conversations that are already established about subjects they can relate to, start new topics of conversation without them getting lost in 18 other pages of side conversation and having a way to easily FIND everything when people return.

Fine, if forums are in then, good.
The newspaper mock-up, then...
One headline should be fine, then subsections on the front page like: Nintendo News. XBox 24/7/365. The PlayStation Panel. Portable Place. Otaku Korner. Something like that.
The panels should be in the same place daily. With the biggest news story on top.
Putting some kind of randomizer in that swaps the news link for each of the subsections would be wise.
Oh! How can I forget. One of the other subsection panels should deinitely be: Retro Round-Up... Or something.

One main headline block on top. 6 smaller panels comprising the bottom 2/3 rds of the page should be easy enough to do. No?

Oh. I also disagree with the Trophy-Wife part.
I want a house in the Hamptons and 18 pool-boys.
...and I demand $1,000,000.13 a year salary or I'll make a deal with Konami to get GG fired over his low-balling of the Elebits DS review score scandal.
