FINALLY! Its been 10 years since FFXIII Versus was announced and since that time it became FFXV. Never have we waited so long for a mainline single player FF game. But with it comes lots of doubt as this game has been under tons of scrutiny.

Copies are out all over the place, gaf has loads and loads of impressions. Not surprising to anyone they are very mixed. Seems the combat is getting mostly positive reactions. The first half of the game is genuinely good, but then the game goes nuts and you get a final half that will make some people hate it. Also no one seems to care for the story all that much.

I'm still excited, I know I will get a kind of game you dont get anywhere else. WRPGs are normally safe and dry, no real gameplay surprises, I know this game will do some out of the box stuff for better or worse.

Xbox version already a massive flop. Sales at newegg and MS story have it around $30-$35 . PS4 version is $50 on sale. Why even waste your time with the Xbox, they only play shooters anyway. Nyaa

Sounds like the Xbox version is the one to get.

I ordered it recently. I liked all of XIII, so I don't expect to be disappointed. Got it from nzgameshop.com for the equivalent of about 47 USD too.

I did like the Kingdom Hearts gameplay from the demo and the game looked gorgeous, but I'll wait to purchase.  I'd rather play TLG first and I have too many other games at the moment.

I'm actually moving in mid January which is fucking awesome because I hate where I'm at now. So I decided to hold off on buying this until then. I have all my systems and everything packed up and ready to go except for the Xbone and the Wii U. I was gonna pack up the U too, then I said fuck maybe I can finish off a few games over the next month.

Seems like the biggest issue is the story and how disjointed the last half of the game is. It’s like mgs4, it throws away everything you know and does crazy stuff. To me that is super exciting as it leads to surprises. Sounds like combat and end game content is superb. I cannot wait!

Has there ever been a game that's taken 10 years and turned out well? Is this potentially the first?

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

In a week we have to see if The Last Guardian also lives up to the hype and 10 years of delays.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

  • SMB Mix-Up! (1AB2-0000-0047-5A7D)
  • Storm the Castle (77BD-0000-00E0-A9C0)

It's shocking, but the early grass on the street is that it's good.  I did not expect to want to play this game.

But for my disc-spitting PS4 I'd get it for that, but will hold out for a cheap Ebay Xb1 copy.

I've never really been that disappointed by a mainline FF title.....I know some people have had issues with nearly every game since FF8 but I've really enjoyed them all. I just don't expect them to ever be the godlike RPG again as FF6 & FF7 were, so that stops me from getting disgusted I guess.

So I put about 4 hours in and am enjoying the strangeness of it all. It is another open world game with a bunch of icons on a map to hit. The world outside of towns is mostly empty but very pretty. Quests so far have been go there kill that variety, the combat is fun so that’s a welcome quest. Combat is hard to describe, there is a lot of holding down buttons and watching crazy shit happening but then you have team attacks and warping you can activate. When fighting junk mobs it feels kind of auto but battling tougher guys feels amazing.

Once I got the car it made navigating the world easier but the car is not a real car. It’s this auto track ride where you get to sit back and watch the scenery go by while you listen to music and hear conversations. Traveling to the FFVII theme song felt so right, man I love that game.

Everything about this game feels like a departure from FF games. The gear is simplified a ton, spells are unlike anything in past games maybe FFVIII is the only comparison, and leveling up o oh happens in camps where you cook and eat for bonuses. Obviously time will tell if this strange approach will be fulfilling or if I will miss the far more robust game systems of past FF games.

I do love the main four though, their small interactions are great and I feel I am playing a FF TMNT game.

I am on chapter 2 so still very early. Finished one dungeon which wasn't super simple but enjoyable because of the banter between the group as you explore. Most of the fights have been simple and they are still quite chaotic. The margin between finesse and sloppy is very tiny I have yet to find any groove with the combat. I did fight this sabertooth which absolutely destroyed my team, that wasn't humbling, but most fights have been easy.

The exp balance is atrocious, I am leveling so fast and I haven't done many side quests. Doing main quests alone level you up too fast. I am already 4 levels above the reccommended level for the story mission I am at and I have done only 5 side quests. This shit pisses me off so much, why Is such an easy concept like balancing player skills leveling is so hard for devs. Scale the main quest only! Is it super hard to change some number values on certain quests. Make it optional for those that want to overpower everything. I want my main quest to be at the correct difficulty and these stupid developers throw in a million side quests that ruin that. The reward for doing side quests should not be EASY MODE!!!!! I should be rewarded with more complex deep gameplay because I have mastered the game. Why is this so hard to understand.

And I am done ranting.

Played for a couple of hours and enjoying it so far. I took to the combat quicker then I thought I would and it feels pretty good so far. Game looks great and I can tell that I'll really enjoying the exploring in this game. It's so cool driving along to the tunes of previous Final Fantasy games. I don't mind that the driving is basically on rails, in fact I think that I prefer it that way. I'd rather drive at a leisurely pace looking at the environment, listening to the music, and hearing the banter between your friends.

Just recently finished Chapter 1. I've been taking my time doing side quests, hunts, and just some general exploring.
